CURRENT MISSION Learn about the world and share our humanity ABOUT ME I (Alicia) am an American living in New York City who loves to travel. I am a PhD student at Columbia University studying political science (especially public policy in Brazil). I like to hang out with fun people, go to new places, and learn a lot. I am easy going and low maintenance. I have lived in South America and the Middle East and absolutely loved both regions - I'm eager to go back!! (Patrick died of cancer in November 2012, so it's just me now. I didn't want to make a new profile, and I like to think that all of the positive descriptions of Pat show that I'm a cool person too, since we were basically the same person.)

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING I've couchsurfed a bunch around the world, and when my late husband and I lived in Beirut we hosted many people on our couch. Now my place in NYC is too small for another person, but someday I hope I can host people again. In the meantime, I hope to stay on couches around the world! COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE Such an awesome way to meet people and see the real parts of a foreign place. I've couchsurfed solo throughout Brazil, I couchsurfed with my husband in Armenia and Georgia, and he couchsurfed in many other countries. We hosted many wonderful people in our apartment in Beirut. It is great!
My Interests
I love to run, try new restaurants, explore cities. I enjoy going out in the evening, but I am not a late night or party person. I don't smoke, I don't do drugs, and I don't drink much. I enjoy cooking and eating out, wandering around, reading, talking. I have 2 cats - they rock.
