About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To travel, play music, and find like-minded souls all over the world

ABOUT ME

I'm a curious individual who is interested in people, different culture, different languages and especially art and music. I have traveled around the world studying, exploring, and playing music and love the opportunity to meet people form different places with similar interests.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have traveled a lot already and have hosted many new found friends from my travels at our little home in San Francisco. I found that having people to meet up with when traveling is a great occasion to see and find the treasures of a location that as an ordinary tourist you don't have immediate access to. Touring playing music has provided many of these opportunities and I think that the CS community is like-minded. Basically, I know my city in a special way, you know yours in your special way--let's exchange the insider tour of our towns & regions!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have surfed many couches as the music scene has it's own community for traveling artists. One of my best experiences was a fellow musician in Uruguay who invited us to stay with him and his girlfriend in Montevideo. We became such good and fast friends over a few days and one concert that we have since sent them other friends and they've fostered concert exchanges with other musicians we've met on the road. The indie music world is smaller and smaller!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music in the iPod these days: Brian Eno, Chet Baker, the Pretenders, the Velvet Underground, The Stone Roses, Camera Obscura, David Bowie, Roxy Music, Elvis Costello, The Cure, Dusty Springfield, Clovis, The Doors, Pulp, Talking Heads, Leonard Cohen...but these are just a few examples I have a huge and varied interest in music!

Movies!! LOVE THEM! I go through periods of film from post war Italian, Classic Hollywood, New Wave French, love the directors Fellini, De Sica, Werner Herzog, Cassavettes (both father & daughter...that list in inexhaustable! Top films on my list include Le Huitieme Jour, Umberto D, Me and You and Everyone We Know, The Red Shoes, (but these suggestions might just be reflecting my mood today)

Just finished Herman Hesse, Narcissus and Goldmund--great book to provoke discussion about human extremes and an artist's life. Recently read a book about the social development of Bonobos--wow. I don't think my species is superior. Just started reading Proust, L'Amour de Swann--the socail strata are so comical--I love the characters!

Teach, Learn, Share

DIY opportunities in the arts and music. I can offer lots of ideas and inspiration on how to pursue your creative endeavors without commercial or governmental support. I can play some great tunes, talk about anything and everything, and find unconventional solutions.
