About Me

I am currently a second year student at Iowa State University's College of Veterinary Medicine. Previously I received a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Purdue University. In the future, I hope to extend my career internationally with a focus in non-profit work and Shelter Medicine.

I grew up in rural Indiana in a rather large family. I have three biological siblings, three step-siblings, one adopted brother, and have had countless foster siblings. Needless to say, being alone for extended periods of time is quite foreign to me, and I enjoy being in the company of others.

Some of my interests include riding my motorcycle (1976 Kawasaki KZ400!), veganism, taking photos, blogging about my travel experiences, concert orchestra, hiking, attending church, spending time with family, Zumba, and walking.

I have a female orange tabby named Pumpkin, who seems to have the personalities of five cats rather than one... 🐈

I live with three other girls and we are all students at Iowa State University. Three of us are veterinary students and our obligations to studying will keep me from being available to host at times. Additionally, I will probably only accept guests for up to two nights so that Couchsurfing does not become an inconvenience to my housemates.

Should you decide to request a stay, please be aware that we also have one dog, two more cats (three total), and a rabbit. Please mention in your request that you understand this and are good with it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I previously had the opportunity to spend a semester abroad in Ireland during my undergraduate studies and I fell in love with it. I hope to have similar experiences in other places when I get the opportunity to travel again. I love meeting people and learning about their way of life, and Couchsurfing provides wonderful opportunities for just that.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Rise Against is my favorite! Other artists I enjoy include Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Yellowcard, Good Charlotte, Blink-182, Green Day, Linkin Park, Avenged Sevenfold, Between the Trees, Flyleaf, Theory of a Deadman, Skillet, Three Days Grace, Mumford & Sons, The Script, Jason Mraz, Joshua Radin, Savage Garden, Queen, R.E.M., Survivor, Poison, Imogen Heap

Books: The Bible. Harry Potter. Fire Bringer, The Sight, and Fell (David Clement-Davies). A Thousand Splendid Suns. The Age of Innocence. Bloodline, The Reckoning. The Fountainhead, Anthem. I like fantasy best, although regrettably I haven't picked up a book for non-educational purposes in some time. I hope that will change during life after vet school!

Movies: Harry Potter! X-Men! Pirates of the Caribbean! I am a fan of pretty much every genre. My all-time favorite pick-me-up is Dirty Dancing. And I will always love Pokémon.
