About Me

I'm Radek, but majority of my foreign friends usually call me RJ for its easier pronunciation. The journey I'm on... in any situation I'm always doing my best to help people around me to laugh & enjoy their life. It's that simple :)

I refuse to "just" EXIST. I rather prefer to LIVE my life & seek for every single opportunity to eventually be able to achieve my full potential.

As my favourite quote says...

"If you love life, don't waste time, for time is what life is made up of."

- Bruce Lee

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I love to travel & I love to meet new people. Jeet Kune Do is now part of my life, and USA is mainland for Bruce Lee's Fighting Method. I would love to visit the States at least once a year to gain more skills & experience. As everybody knows, the hotels and such can be quite expensive, and if you spend large amount for training, the question about place to stay is important.

On the other hand, I've met lots of people from USA and foreign countries that would love to visit our historic city of Prague. The hotels are similarly expensive here & to offer the place to stay for somebody is the right thing, because I know how important this kind of help can be when you want to explore other places, but your finances are not your best friend :) And of course, I can show my hosts the city in different way than standard visitors maps and guides. I love to do it, there's so much more than just a few famous places in Prague... :)

Interests

Music is huge part of my life, it can calm you down, help you to relax, make you day, helps to get rid of bad feelings :) the ultimate cure :)

I'm a Jeet Kune Do practitioner. Bruce Lee's Fighting Method is pure self-defense, there are no sport attributes and such whatsoever! I teach my friends what I've gained in USA from my Sifu Lamar M Davis II, the founder of Hardcore Jeet Kune. I support any activity in women's self-defense, I teach it for free, for the higher purpouse... and I hate to see, when somebody tries to make the money from it...

Of course Nohejbal (Futnet, or Fottballtennis, whatever you call it) is my favourite sport I do. It's our national sport and I play it from my childhood :) If you have no clue what the heck Futnet is... you should check it on web & try it at least once in your lifetime! :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I love listening to electronic music with broken rhythm such as breakbeat, big beat, drum & bass, jungle, glitch hop, dubstep etc (Orbital, The Chemical Brothers, The Prodigy, The Crystal Method, Matrix & Futurebound, A.Skillz, Evil Nine, Noisia, Aphrodite, Future Prophecies, Fatboy Slim, The Glitch Mob, Gramatik, The Freestylers, Mind Vortex, High Contrast and more and more and moooore....) But I can listen to all kinds of music if necessary... :)

My favourite movies are definitely Requiem for a Dream, Trainspotting, Memento, Interstellar, Gone Girl, Atonement, The Uninvited,...

Books that inspired me somehow, or amused me are Born to Run, Bruce Lee's Fighting Method, Primal Blueprint, Steve Jobs,...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Amazing thing I've done would be, that I made up my mind one day and 2 years back I contacted one of the best Sifus (instructors) in Jeet Kune Do. I didn't expect anything from it, but he kindly replied me with an offer to be his student. I went to USA for Work & Travel program as year before... but with different goal... to make money & train for one month with my Sifu. There was many people that didn't believe it could happen... but actually, it did. Now I have there my friend for life, my mentor & my Sifu. I have to visit him at least once a year, because I miss that feeling so much!

As a byproduct of my experience I try to help people to break out from their fear of try something new, different... help them explore world, get out of their comfort zone & find their own happiness or make their dream come true! Because as we all know... all the magic happens outside of our Comfort zone.... :) Work and Travel program is something, that can change your life, give you much needed divergent look at life itself... but not to many people know about that opportunity & I want to change it!

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a Hardcore Jeet Kune Do Apprentice Instructor, I can teach you how to defend yourself, or at least a few techniques that can safe your life, you never know.

But the main stuff I can teach you is... czech language - you know, some really cool words, some vulgar words, how to kindly order meal, drinks, how to tell the girl she's pretty etc... or how to say really bad words, just for fun :)

I would love to learn foreign languages & about an interesting stuff in other counties too, so I'm open to any funny words in your own language, or any specialties genuine to your country :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

My flat, place to stay, my knowledge of great places around the Prague, and of course a lot of FUN that can make the visit timeless in their memories :)

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Croatia, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Russian Federation, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey, United States
