About Me

My wife Aswini and myself wish to keep to our little home open for people from across the globe. We would love to meet people, learn about the place our hosts come from, the way of life over there, the culture etc. My wife would probably place food on top of the list ;)

About myself, I'm simple and down to earth guy with hobbies in variety of activities... quite hard to put down in words...

I have dabbled in a variety of fields...have done a diploma in Mechanical engineering, graduated in Aeronautical engineering and studied Business management later on...have designed aircrafts for Boeing, and when I got bored of it shifted career to Business Development for a Rail Engineering consultancy, and then into ICT sales and now finally a Market Analyst in the civil engineering industry :)

If I had to write something about me, I would say that small talk bores me quickly...I don't like gossip....I like talking about countries, cultures, experiences, atoms, death, aliens, intellect, the meaning of life, world peace, faraway galaxies, music, movies, memories, childhood, fears...I don't want to know "what's up"... Silence is beautiful as well...once in a while I like to disconnect myself from the world and go out to the woods on my own and spend time with nature...

the other side of me...I love watching movies...I absolutely love adventure activities...in awe of theatre...LOVE travelling...one moment I could be travelling without any plan and the other moment I could be sitting at home all day doing nothing...

Like watching the stars in the night sky and also like watching the sunrise...I'm winter person...love the cold, love the rain, love the dark and cloudy days...I think I am a vampire, only that I don't have sharp teeth neither do I suck blood ;)...and when it is hot, beers help me keep my sense of sanity...

Will leave my wife to write about herself when gets time (which is probably never:p )

Greetings to everyone, who is so patient enough to read our profile here. So, as my husband said I thought that will never happen. But since I really love him, I want to surprise him, like this some times.

On to the topic, about me I am so similar but really different to my husband. I hope you understood. Bye 😏😂

Haha just kidding.. About me I am a fun loving person with an ability to think and talk about food 24×7 (even in sleep) if you have a recipe to cook for me, say hi to us...

About my education, I did not want all the jokes (if you are a south Indian, you should complete your engineering, then think what you want to do in life) around the world go vain, so I did my masters in software engineering. And I didn't stop there, I also did my masters in Computer science and engineering, then I found that computer is not my thing. I was working as a soft skill trainer and robotics trainer in India. From my experience with children and my self-analysis report, I found moulding character of kids or relieving some one from trauma is going to be my future. So I am on my path to it. I have a great passion for cooking(eating as well).

About my relationship with my husband, for me he is the super man, who knows everything in the world. I think we are 2 different puzzle pieces to make a complete picture.

You would have read about my husband, he even enjoys silence and tries to make me enjoy the silence, which word is not in my dictionary. I like to ask people "what's up?" in 5 mins interval. I talk about everything in this world like the scarf which I bought last week, the crow that smiled to my dad, snacks I had on a rainy day, why volcanoes are happening, etc.

My one more side is I really enjoy nature. I like to go to beach all time.

I think you got a random idea about me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We haven't done much overseas travel yet. And we think CS will be a great way to start spreading our wings. Meeting all of you travellers would possibly give us the inspiration to give up our mundane jobs (sometime in the future) and start our travels!

We would love to meet people from around the globe to learn about their part of the world...and also throw our two cents of knowledge regarding the myths, stories of NZ, activities to do and places to visit in NZ...and also happy to show around should we have the time :)

Oh and we would like to cover the map with as much orange as possible, so especially if you are from a country we haven't hosted yet, please say hello!

Interests

Love travelling, which is quite obvious...photography used to be a passion (it still is)...reading stories about how countries have been discovered...walking through forests with the smells of the vegetation, sound of streams flowing and chirping of the birds (talking to nature as I call it)...learning other cultures, traditions and languages...

Want to learn as many things as I can during my period on earth...want to be a jack of all trades whether it be music, dance, languages, art, education, sports...and try to master at least a few...

and as part of this learning this curve, have been learning Salsa...and will be starting Tai Chi and Financial trading soon...

Music, Movies, and Books

Love music of any kind...

Books - mmm I am trying to write a novel...I have my story board ready. Now it is all about developing it.
Don't read much but I have read all of Dan Brown novels and a few Nicholas Sparks' ones...love it when they are made into movies, but Inferno was terrible...

Movies - really really passionate about them...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I really wish I could fly so that I can stop feeding the flight carriers...

But I recently realised adventure sports/activities is my calling...and ever since I realised it, I've done sky diving from 19,000 feet, river rafting in the commercially highest falls in NZ, jumped into the Pacific ocean to snorkel in Fiji (though I can't swim), shark diving, visiting the Grand Canyon, the numerous treks in Piha, doing the Tongariro alpine crossing, running for charity, flying an aircraft (which is where it all started)...

What I Can Share with Hosts

History, interesting bytes (except politics) about NZ, Auckland and India...have been to each and every town in the South Island and still exploring the North...can throw my two cents on places to visit and must do activities...

Due to a some bad experiences and being taken for granted, would like state that we are happy for you to use electricity, wifi , showers etc. but please don't expect us to provide food throughout your stay.

P.S. Happy to shop together and would love to cook together some of our local varieties and some of yours if you prefer.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Fiji, India, New Zealand, Samoa, Singapore, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
