Married to same sex partner, we have two adult children ages 26 and 23. We share our home with four friendly cats, three dogs and a fish.

I am 53 years old and have gone back to college with the kids! I am learning American Sign Language and studying Deaf Studies. I am also taking various art classes. I would REALLY love to be able to go the Cinema Make Up school in Los Angeles, but life currently prevents me from doing so.

I have Fibromyalgia and suffer from chronic pain, but I try not to let that rule my life. I have had a bilateral mastectomy due to cancer concerns in my family. I am active, but not as active as I could be or want to be!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I REALLY want to go to Bora Bora someday before I die, without having to spend $15,000.00 in hotel fees to not even stay in the room! :)

I would also like to go to Sri Lanka, India, Austraila, New Zealand, Fiji, Maldives, (And anywhere else with tropical islands and warm water to swim in!), also England, Ireland, Scotland, and the French lavender fields.

Interests

I have a LOT of things I am interested in and am big into costuming and special effects make up which I use for Renaissance Faires, Pyrate Faires, SCA Events, Steampunk Events, and Haunted Houses. I LOVE camping and traveling and enjoy outdoor activities like Munzee hunting (www.Munzee.com), Geocaching and Letterboxing. Gardening is one of my favorite things and I have a green thumb and dirty feet! I like to Role Play and play role play games online as well as write some role play stories. I also love dancing and have learned many styles with Bellydancing being one of my favorites. I like all things Pyrate and Gypsy! I can spend hours and hours on Facebook and Pinterest and love playing Ultima Online.

Music, Movies, and Books

Fave Music Style: 80's music, but I also like all music from 20's through the 60's. I like Top 40 music, as well as some country and tribal music. I do not like hip hop, rap or heavy metal.

Fave Movie: "Princess Bride"! But also the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, Casablanca, African Queen and the Maltese Falcon. I like comedies, horror and drama movies and am always looking for someone to go to the scary movies with!

Fave Books: "Go Saddle the Sea", "Escape from Warsaw", anything by Shakespeare!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Had children! But seriously.....that has been pretty great.

I have saved two lives using CPR, that's a pretty great feeling, pretty amazing. :)

I have seen the world change and it become more accepting. I did not think that I would see American laws to change to allow same sex marriage in my lifetime, but I am SO glad that it has! I also did not think that I would see the country be led by a black president....I am also so glad I saw that in my lifetime as well.

I have met Johnny Depp and got to squeeze his butt! ;)

Teach, Learn, Share

What do you want to know or learn? I am a "Jack of all Trades" and can teach many things. I can show you wonderful places. I can teach crafts, role playing, special effects make up and other fun things.

I would LOVE to be able to learn to play the cello and the violin. My Gypsy soul calls for me to play, but alas, I am not good at reading notes. But if I could just wake up with some special skills it would be able to play the cello and violin, to be able to sing like a torch lounge singer and to be able to breathe under water. ;)

What I Can Share with Hosts

We live on the Central Coast of California, between San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbarba......about three hours north of Los Angeles and about four and a half hours south of San Francisco. We have it ALL here recreation wise and we can tell you some great places to see and fun things to do. We might even offer to drive you to them and go with you, depending. :) Our temperature here is moderate and like the Mediterranean, with the average temperature being between 72 and 80 degrees pretty much year round, with "winter" being around 60-65 degrees. Oprah calls our area the "happiest city in America".

I have lived on the Central Coast for nearly 30 years and can share a wealth of knowledge about the area.

We are available to show people around our area, help send you brochures or information, help you make reservations in our area, etc. However, at the moment we are not currently able to host individuals in our home, but look forward to in the future.

The room we have available is a single room with a queen size bed that the the pets are not allowed into. We also have a futon that can be spread out in the livingroom or the bedroom if needed. There is a shared full bathroom with tub and shower available as well as a shared mini bathroom with sink and toilet. You would have full access of kitchen as well. Home has WiFi, Cable in room, long distance phone access, washer/dryer and computer access if you don't have one.

There is not a car for your use, you would need to rent a car, but we may be willing to take you places. We can put up two people in that room comfortably, or up to four with using the futon also but that may feel crowded. We will not accept children but may be willing to accept pets depending on the situation.
