About Me

Hello Friendly Folk of Couchsurfing!

So a little bit about me. Ive worked as an Outdoor Educator for the last several years around the world. Taking youth out on extended outdoor trips, my main specialty is working on whitewater in any craft. But I also got a lot of hours of hiking, biking, and another other kind of activity you can think of that you would do on extended journeys. I've changed my tune a wee bit since coming back to Canada, as unfortunately Canada does not have outdoor education as mandatory within our school systems. So I now work seasonally as a Wildland Firefighter within Alberta, protecting the forest one tree at a time (or not).

I really enjoy insightful, witty communication. I'm a sharer, so whatever is mine, is yours and I give back just as much. I like sharing stories and hearing about the local area I am in as well as learning about the people I am surrounded by.
If you would like to know more about myself, please feel free to ask.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am couchsurfing because I like to get to know the area I am through the locals I am staying with. Also because I feel it gives the area a more authentic feel with staying with someone that is keen to open their doors to people that respect their space and can learn from each other and the area they are residing in.

Upon opening your doors to me, please tell me what I can bring to assist in your household :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite book of all time....drum roll please.....

Ishmael by Daniel Quinn

followed not to far behind by....

The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint Exupery

but if you show me another book, I can be swayed to change this, depending of course on the book.

As for music, I'm all about sharing and exploring new music from around the world. The only music I can not stand is extreme heavy metal where the singer is literally screaming into the mic. I'll applaud the skill needed to do that, but I can not stand that kind of music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing I have done....Yikes that is an interesting question. As I have been lucky enough to do a lot of amazing things. But one thing that stands out the most for me regarding the term 'amazing' is I got to lead and conduct a 30 day expedition from the top of Australia's highest peak of the source of a river called the Snowy River, walk down to the river and then paddle that river to the ocean. All in the while watching, facilitating and teaching the growth of 14 young adults.
