Living in Amsterdam, we are flooded with messages from people who don't share what's couchsurfing is all about. Nobody here can handle them all. My suggestion for finding a couch in Amsterdam is actually reading the city's group and see who is active, and contact them, even if they are not listed as accepting guests -- they might open an exception or know who could have (even because there is an active meeting every Saturday). I'm a lot social, and do take the initiative in conversations (I have to learn better how to contain me sometimes). I like the contact with nature. Go to parks, mountains, hiking. I usually like nature sports. And I like to carry my (classical) guitar to all of those places. Sometimes I am heavily available and ready to go, sometimes I am too busy. So I normally prefer requests 1, 2 or 3 days before the stay. And I am likely to do the same, since I'm more spontaneous than planned person.
