About Me

I’ve spent the first 53-year chapter of my beautiful life with my feet on the ground long enough to raise 2 wonderful sons and to dig deep enough to understand a true sense of purpose. Now I’m entering the next chapter with the wisdom of a well-seasoned human and the (somewhat anxious) curiosity of a child. I’m on the cusp of a major transition (hence the anxiety) from a career and ambition-identified life to a life centered in community and relationship. I recently relocated to Redhook, NY in the Hudson Valley region.

Professionally (you’ll notice the career and ambition-identity), my work as an artist/educator synthesizes aspects of art, education and social action to create community-based projects that are personally and collectively transformative. I previously earned my living as an advertising and magazine photographer. I authored Shooting From The Heart: Creating Passion and Purpose in Your Life and Work to support my personal and professional development programs and classes. I’ve collaborated with museums, colleges, schools and organizations on community-based art projects that focus on various social issues. I am an adjunct professor at Suffolk County Community College and Adelphi University, both in Long Island, NY.

My photographs have appeared in galleries and magazines including Cosmopolitan, Time, Brides and Mademoiselle, and have appeared in ads for Club Med, Microsoft, AT&T, Marriott and Seagrams to name a few. Over the last few years I created several youth empowerment and leadership programs including Just Like Me and “I matter”
