About Me

Curious, open-minded, I have been travelling quite a bit during my life and lived in several countries. Erasmus in Norway was probably the life-changing experience that transform my look at the world and what I wanna do with my life. I set as a goal to always give a chance to people I meet and see the world from their perspective. I am way more interested in what you want to tell me rather than talking about my self.
I live in Helsinki, I am a father of two children, having them at my place every other week. Although I feel I am seasoned traveler, CouchSurfing is something new for me, but since this is a new phase in my life I want to join this community and see if I can contribute to it.
I am an art practitioner and an art lover (https://www.robertofusco.net/), and I firmly believe is an agent of micro transformation in society (I could talk about this for a few drinks). I enjoy talking about food and also making it (vegetarian). I am a sea person and love kayaking, swimming, and meet the water in its multiple form. I have zero tolerance for arrogance, insensitivity and toxic masculinity.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Encounter places through an insider perspective, have a reason which is your story why should I experience rather a generic TOP-10 list. I am interested in the particular rather than the average. Politically, I want to give a chance to my self and people and sharing time and places I care about.
Contributing to alternative ways of travelling, if not as a resistance, as a positive and affirmative way of hosting each other.

Music, Movies, and Books

In my 20s I got in touch with electronic music fro Warp records and post-rock, e.g. Mogwai, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Tortoise, Stereolab

I read mainly non-fiction (currently "Do Nothing") but I enjoy deeply Ishiguru, Moravia, Ursula Le Guin.

Movies, thanks to my friends in Rome, had been a great interest. Hard to say favorites, but directors-wise I will mention Koreeda, Lynch, Kiarostami, Guadagnino.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I played in a concert in front of thousands of people in Rome with a band called Silence is Sexy.
But what I am proud of is not in an event, but every time I feel fully present and open at what I am doing, whatever mundane that is.
In terms of trip, Indonesia and Iceland (climbing up the Vatnajokull with my best friend is something that stays in my body as a memory).

Teach, Learn, Share

I also teach at the university, so if you are interested in art and technology I could give you some pointers. Yet, I am more into peer learning rather than lecturing on a podium in front of a class.

I like to share maps of places where I have been and get feedback from others. It's like our realities meet thanks to a common place.

I like dancing and singing together with people, I get a side of them that stays often hidden.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can sit down with you and tell you what I like about Helsinki, what makes it comfy for me and what is still exotic after 15 years.
