I grew up mostly in East Devon, UK, and now work as an English teacher - most recently in Spain and Italy.
Apart from that I've enjoyed sailing and rock climbing, and want to do more skiing this winter!
I love learning to cook food from different countries, and being introduced to music I've never heard before.

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

I really enjoyed the weekly CS meetings in Bournemouth, and showed a few people around the town individually. Apart from that I've surfed in Montpellier, France where I met two truly kind and compassionate hosts :)
I finally had a flat I could host Couchsurfers in for the past two years, something I'd wanted to do for a long time. Not very many people came to that small town, but I still had plenty of wonderful guests! Now I'm on a long motorbike camping holiday, but I'll hopefully have a flat in Vietnam that you'll be welcome to visit later this year :)

The couchsurfing that most surprised me happened before I knew about this website - sometimes when I'm hitch hiking and camping people invite me to stay at their house for the night instead! I'd never have imagined people would be so open and generous.

I already wrote about my interests in the "About Me" section, oops!
Well, I also love cycling, and talking about almost anything, in English, and trying to talk about anything, in French!
I've been sailing around Scandinavia (we crashed, but didn't sink) and hitch hiked pretty long distances in Europe.
Right now I'm trying to ride a motorbike from Europe, through Russia, Kazakhstan, and Turkey. Then back to Europe... wish me luck!

I like a lot of famous films, books and music that we all know all about, but one book I really adored that I'd never heard of before is Last Dance at the Frosty Queen - I don't remember the author, but with a title like that I think you'll find it ok!

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

I was walking up a hill in the countryside at night once, it was of course very dark until a huge shooting star flew overhead - it lit the world so brightly and suddenly that we both dropped to the ground in fright! Now I keep trying to see one of the huge meteor showers that come around periodically, but of course in England it's always cloudy so I haven't managed it yet!

Well I could talk to you about what's pretty in the south west of England, the south of France or the south of Vietnam (I'm always in the south wherever I am... I don't know why!). And I certainly recommend you visit Oslo if you get the chance. I know a bit about hitch hiking and a lot about sailing, also I'm an English teacher so I hope I can teach you a little English if you want! More generally I can often see or say things differently, so that might interest you if it interests you.
I don't want to choose what to learn! But I'm sure if we talk for half an hour I'll learn plenty :)
