Hello, I’m Rogers, a humanitarian and nonprofit leader based in Jinja, Uganda. I run Empathy 4 Africa International, a community-based organization that has been supporting orphaned and vulnerable children for over six years. Our work centers on youth empowerment, education, gender equality, and providing children with the care and opportunity they need to build a brighter future.

Over the years, I’ve hosted travellers, volunteers, and curious wanderers from around the world. I genuinely enjoy hosting, not just offering a bed, but creating a space for connection, culture, and meaningful exchange. Whether it’s sharing stories, meals, or ideas, there’s always something to learn from each other.

My home is humble, clean, and peaceful, ideal if you’re looking for a safe and respectful place to stay. You’ll also have a chance to meet some local communities, and if you’d like, I can show you the work we’re doing with the children.

I believe in meaningful connections, not just passing through places but meeting people who carry stories, cultures, and perspectives. Couchsurfing gives us that rare chance to connect beyond borders and surface-level tourism. I’ve had the privilege of hosting travellers, volunteers, and open-minded souls from all walks of life. Some came curious, others came with purpose, but every exchange left something valuable behind like a laugh , a lesson, and a memory.

For me, hosting is more than sharing space. It’s about shared humanity. I’m here to welcome those who are kind, curious, and respectful, and to offer a stay that’s both peaceful and purposeful.

I enjoy a mix of rock, country, pop, and even a bit of rage music when the energy calls for it. Anything with a strong feeling or good rhythm tends to catch my ear. Some days it’s calm and reflective, other times it’s loud and freeing, though it just depends on the mood.

I’m into adventure films, high school dramas, and Holla-style movies (the kind with humor, emotion, and a bit of edge). I like stories that take you somewhere 😀 whether it’s a wild journey, a messy teenage life, or something unexpectedly powerful.

I don’t always get time to read deeply, but when I do, I go for books that inspire or reflect real life. Stories about resilience, humanity, or even just a unique way of looking at the world.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Life has been a deep and humbling teacher. One of the most meaningful things I’ve ever done is starting a community charity from almost nothing, just a calling, a little faith, and the belief that even small actions can change lives. Since then, we’ve helped over 150 children return to school, regain their rights, and simply be seen. I also founded an orphanage, a place where children who’ve been forgotten can feel safe, cared for, and valued again.

It’s not always easy, but it’s honest work. And to me, the real impact isn’t just in the meals served or clothes shared. It’s in the quiet dignity restored to a child who finally feels like they matter. That kind of impact echoes for a lifetime.

I can offer a warm and respectful place to stay, with free accommodation in a safe and quiet environment. For those who are interested, I’m always happy to share a bit of Uganda’s history, culture, and local way of life - from traditional meals to everyday stories from the community.

Sometimes we cook together, sometimes we explore the neighbourhood, and other times we just sit and talk. I try to tailor the experience based on each guest’s interests, whether that’s learning about charity work, meeting local families, or simply finding a peaceful space to reflect.

My door is open to those who come with kindness and curiosity.
