About Me

Hello I am Rokas 🤗 I am originally from Lithuanian, but currently I am working for a tech company in the sunny and beautiful city of Porto. I love running ultra-marathons, and this year, I plan to run four of them across Europe. In addition to running, I enjoy traveling and exploring new cities while meeting new people. During my free time, you will find me reading books, and on Sundays, I enjoy watching Formula 1.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to couch surf because I am passionate about traveling and immersing myself in new cultures. I believe that the best way to truly experience a new place is to connect with locals and learn from their firsthand knowledge and experience.

Through couch surfing, I hope to meet people who can share their stories, traditions, and way of life with me. By staying with locals, I can gain a deeper understanding of the local culture, which will help me appreciate the nuances and complexities of a new place.

Additionally, I am excited about the prospect of indulging in great local food. I believe that food is a powerful expression of a culture, and I am always eager to try new dishes and flavors. I know that staying with locals will allow me to sample authentic cuisine and gain a deeper appreciation for the culinary traditions of the places I visit.

Finally, I am eager to make new friends everywhere I go. I believe that the connections we make while traveling can last a lifetime, and I am excited about the prospect of building relationships with people from all over the world. Through couch surfing, I hope to meet like-minded individuals who share my love of travel and adventure.

Music, Movies, and Books

It's great to have a few go-to favorites in the realm of music, literature, and film. For me, one of my all-time favorite artists to listen to is Milky Chance. I find their music to be soothing and melodic, with lyrics that are thought-provoking and introspective. Whenever I need a break from the stresses of daily life, I can put on one of their albums and let the music wash over me.

As for literature, I must admit that I am a huge fan of the Harry Potter series. These books have been a constant source of comfort and inspiration for me since I was a child. J.K. Rowling's vivid imagination and storytelling ability are unmatched, and I find myself drawn back into the wizarding world time and time again. The themes of friendship, bravery, and standing up for what is right resonate with me on a deep level, and I always come away from these books feeling inspired.

When it comes to movies, I have to say that The Shawshank Redemption is hands-down the best movie of all time, in my opinion. This classic film tells the story of hope and redemption in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. The performances by Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman are both stellar, and the writing and direction are top-notch. I have watched this movie countless times, and each time I am struck by its power and beauty. It is a true masterpiece of cinema.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I undertook a grueling 100km hike with no prior preparations, fueled by my overconfidence and the belief that walking such a distance would be a breeze. However, reality soon set in, and I found myself struggling to keep up with the challenge.

As I trudged through the endless terrain, my legs began to give out, and I was plagued with doubts and regrets about my decision to embark on this journey. The physical strain was intense, and I found myself questioning my sanity and willpower. With every step, the weight of the challenge seemed to grow heavier, and I wanted to quit many times along the way.

Despite the seemingly insurmountable obstacles, I pushed forward, determined to complete what I had started. I summoned all the inner strength and resolve I could muster and refused to give up. The hours ticked by slowly, and as the sun began to rise on the horizon, I finally crossed the finish line, just shy of 24 hours.

Looking back, I realize that my overconfidence had led me down a dangerous path, but I am proud of my ability to push through the pain and complete the hike. It was an unforgettable experience that taught me the value of preparation and the importance of never giving up, no matter how difficult the journey may be.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am excited at the prospect of sharing my passions with a host through couchsurfing. I have a deep love for running. I find it to be an incredibly cathartic and fulfilling activity that helps me stay centered and focused. I would love to share my experiences and tips with a host, whether it be discussing training techniques, routes to run, or the mental benefits of the sport.

Another passion of mine is Lithuanian cuisine. I grew up in Lithuania and have a deep appreciation for the rich and delicious food that comes from the country. I would be thrilled to share some of my favorite recipes and dishes with a host, for example make a Lithuanian dish. From hearty stews to savory dumplings, Lithuanian cuisine is a treat for the taste buds that I believe any food lover would appreciate.

Finally, I have been fortunate enough to travel extensively and have picked up many tips and tricks along the way. From traveling in Europe to the Middle East and India, I have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share. Whether it be discussing the best ways to save money on travel or recommending must-see sights and hidden gems, I would love to help a host plan their next adventure. There is so much beauty and wonder in the world, and I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience it.
