Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In 2012, we chanced upon a quote "If you can't travel the world, bring the world to you". Being in our early twenties, we couldn't afford to travel, we started hosting on Couchsurfing instead. We met many travellers who shaped our perspectives towards life and inspired us greatly.

We continue hosting and have the privilege to couchsurf whenever we travel. Everywhere we go, Couchsurfing is our preferred way of travelling. We love understanding a country through the lens of a local, learning about their way of life and how they name their wifi password.

Couchsurfing may be free but it's not cheap. We put in time, effort and energy into spending time with our hosts and guests. We would hang out together, cook Singaporean food, share our perspectives as Singaporeans and listen to theirs. It is less about taking advantage of a free stay but having the privilege to get to the heart of a local culture. This, to us, is a cultural exchange and the couchsurfing spirit we enjoy.

We love the idea of putting our little red dot on your map. Knowing that you have friends on the side of the world and that our home in Singapore is yours too.

Interests

Our life and work revolve very much around the arts, stories and cultures. It’s always nice to be able to meet people from different parts of the world and learn from one another.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Van life in New Zealand for 6 months and still married
- Cycled across South Korea with our parents without fighting
- Failed attempt to cycle from Canada to Mexico
- $10,000 worth of stuff stolen in the safest country in LATAM
- 12am hike to volcano crater in Indonesia w/o warm clothing
- Took part in a marathon and ran for our lives in North Korea
- A lunch convo in Bay Area healed a 11 years old trauma
