Why I'm on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE Hum... Lot of "can I plant my tent in your backyard" while hitchhiking... Have recived a lot of person I barly know (frends of friends of ...) in the pre-couchsurfing era.
Music, Movies, and Books
I'm a music freak, listen to a lot of very various things, don't you worried couchsurfers there is something to please everyone in my music! (and I mean everyone). I think "Roots of Heaven" (Les Racines du Ciel) by Romain Gary is the single most telling book about humanity period. Claude Levi-Strauss is on of the most inspiring scholar, especially for "A World on the Wane" (Tristes Tropiques) because he forsee a lot of the contradictions happening in the modern rational society, and the clash between "ours" society and "their" that we don't understand... And did all this in a style I have never seen again in an academic book... Michel Houellebecq "Elemetary Particules" (Les particules élémentaires) A book dedicated to humankind... truely. Hubert Aquin "Next Episode" (Prochain épisode) Because, it has to most powerfull narative I've seen. The kind of book that you need to read out loud and that keep taking your breath away. I mean the very first sentance of the book is "Cuba is sinking in flames in the middle of Lac Leman while I descent to the bottom of things" (Cuba coule en flame au milieu du lac Leman pendant que je descend au fond des choses). Réjean Ducharme "Wild to Mild" (L'hiver de force) and the "The Swallower Swallowed" (L'avalée des avalées)
