About Me

I'm not really anywhere near 97 years old.

CURRENT MISSION is to cultivate global connections, hang out with good people who laugh at my jokes, and to stay open-minded and open-hearted until I take my last breath.

ABOUT ME: I'm a novelist, playwright, director (of musical comedy), and producer of the annual Alaska World Arts Festival. I also lead worldwide tours and sometimes play in a band.
I'm positive, outgoing, and comfortable in pretty much any situation. I'm drawn to most people, humor, cooking, avocados, music, a challenge, travel, coffee, flea markets, learning, boats, wind, wine, work, tarantulas, clay, play, comedy, love, teaching, meteor showers, tropics, Impressionism, words, birdwatching, saxophones, antiques, and still adding to my list.
Being more tolerant of prejudice and selfishness is one of my goals.

PHILOSOPHY
We all live in one wonderful and fragile world. I appreciate what I have and put my bare feet on the earth as often as possible.
Below are some of my favorite quotes/teachers:
1. Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. - Mark Twain
2. Comedy is acting out optimism. - Robin Williams
3. Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors for you where there were only walls. - Buckminster Fuller
4. The trouble is, you think you have time. - Buddha
5. All you need is love. - John Lennon
6. Love one another. - Jesus Christ
7. I can always be distracted by love, but eventually, I get horny for my creativity. - Gilda Radner
8. Better than a thousand hollow words, is one word that brings peace. - Buddha

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

If not being attacked by a fer-de-lance on the Amazon River, Couchsurfing in a tepee on cliffs overlooking the Celtic Sea, kayaking the clear waters of Zanzibar, sleeping on branches in a Maasai elephant-dung hut, or visiting Ethiopian tribes, then it would be watching a humpback whale breach 48 times or being ship-wrecked in the Coral Sea.

Teach, Learn, Share

Some of the best things in life aren't things. Practice listening, tolerance, acceptance, compassion, generosity, honesty, and integrity. Follow your passions. Recognize opportunities and meet them with open arms and mind. Know the difference between what you believe to be true and what you know to be true. People who don’t agree with you are not your enemies.
Live well.
