About Me
Travel, for me, is less about the landmarks and more about the people. I've found that the best experiences — the ones I actually remember — came from conversations with locals, not from standing in line at a tourist site. I'm on Couchsurfing to connect with that kind of authenticity, whether I'm crashing somewhere new or hosting someone passing through DC
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to meet people and experience different cultures. Making friends across the world seems like a smart idea to me. :)

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: My taste is all over the place in the best way. I grew up on classic American rock and grunge — Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Nirvana — and I never really left the 90s behind. I also lean hard into industrial and alt-metal: NIN, Korn, Tool. On the mellower side I'm into indie stuff like MGMT, Tame Impala, and anything with that psychedelic/electronic edge. Basically if it has soul and a little grit, I'm in.
Movies & Shows: Big sci-fi fan — X-Files, Interstellar, anything that makes you question reality a little. I also have a soft spot for crime and forensic documentaries such as Law and Order. Also true crime series. I could watch those for hours. Give me a good thriller or a well-built fictional universe and I'm happy
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I went to Siberia and tutored students learning the English language. Traveled through South America and navigated entire cities using only Spanish I'd been learning on the fly. There's something humbling and thrilling about being truly out of your comfort zone linguistically — and something deeply satisfying when it actually works
Teach, Learn, Share
I've taught college-level IT and cybersecurity courses as an adjunct professor, so I'm genuinely comfortable explaining complicated things in simple terms. I love trading travel tips, language hacks, recipes from places I've been, and random trivia about basically anything. Fair warning: I will challenge you to a card game.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Local knowledge of DC — the real spots, not the tourist traps. Happy to share a craft beer, cook something international, or swap stories about travel, tech, or whatever's on your mind. I'm low-maintenance, clean, and pretty self-sufficient.
