About Me

CURRENT MISSION

World domination! [cue villain soundtrack] Muhuhahahahaha...

ABOUT ME

I was born in Sri Lanka and lived there for 9 years before escalating civil war conflict forced my family to relocate to Australia. At the time, my nine-year-old self thought getting a death threat from an extremist group was quite cool, but my parents seemed to disagree. So off we went to sunny Brisbane, where I lived for the next 9 years and became an Aussie. Having reached adulthood while avoiding assasination and fatal papercuts, the powers that be decided that my further education would best be administered in the US of A. Cue plane taking off. So there I went to LA where I spent five years and countless dollars in pursuit of a peice of paper to hang on the wall. To be frank, while I learned a lot at USC (mostly outside the classroom), I wouldn't want to repeat it. Fast forward a few years and I've done a full circle to be back in Sri Lanka.

I'm a member of Round Table, which I can best describe as a drinking club with a community service problem...We drink, and we do projects for charity (not necessarily in that order, or together...)

I like to think that I'm approachable by anyone and everyone, so long as they're unarmed, and I firmly believe that humour (yes I spell it that way, deal with it) is the spice of life, and I like my food and my life eye-wateringly spicy.

Disclaimer: Unless you have the observational skills of a blindfolded mole on a moonless night, you probably would have gathered that I have a fairly strong sarcastic streak (no...really...), so be prepared for your recommended daily intake of sarcasm. You can thank me later.

PHILOSOPHY

I'd rather regret something that I have done, than regret not having tried it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Work has been getting pretty hectic, so I can't host as much as I'd like to anymore because of my long work hours and frequent travel. But drop me a request and let's see if we can work something out :-)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted, been hosted, and shared countless adventures and moments of spontaneous insanity with my merry band of CouchSurfing misfits. To put it simply, Couchsurfing is like meeting a great friend for the first time. There can be, of course, the odd sociopathic freak, but prudence and common sense has left me with no bad CS experiences (nor stab wounds) so far :-)

Music, Movies, and Books

Lucky Number Slevin
Crash
Schindler's List
The Shawshank Redemption
Hotel Rwanda
The Usual Suspects

My music taste is exceptionally eclectic. I enjoy everything from jazz to hip hop, regae to R&B, classical to house. I do, however, have a soft spot for Justin Bieber, who I think is one of the best female vocalists of our time, whose songwriting talent is at least on par with that of Barney the Dinosaur.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have climbed Mount Vesuvius, fending off an entire Roman legion during the ascent, all whilst tweeting about it (with actual pigeons, since computers hadn't been invented in 48 BC). You can read the full anecdote in my book, "I did WHAT after last night's drinks???"

Countries I’ve Visited
