Dear world, my name is Seány. I am an Irish & accompanying my 21 year old niece Dora on her adventures across wherever our travels take us.

Over the past year, Dora has experienced more loss than most people face in a lifetime. In just 12 months she has lost five beloved immediate family members — including her father.

Dora is a young woman with Down’s syndrome & autism. Her dad was her anchor, her protector & her biggest champion. His passing has left a huge space in her world. Instead of letting grief close her world, I’m helping Dora gently re-open it through adventure, connection & new experiences using Couchsurfing.

I will be taking Dora on small trips together — exploring nature, meeting new people, trying new activities & slowly rebuilding joy, confidence & emotional stability after such a difficult year.

We will commence our trip starting in Belguim on Sunday 8th March 2026 and would appreciate all the support we can get from fellow Couchsurfers who can offer us places to stay. We will come bearing treats 😊

Hello world. I’m an Irish rascal ☘️ I am a nomad. In the past 12
Months I’ve lived in 4/5 different countries.

Home for me now is London, however I spent my childhood growing up amongst a 30 year war known as the ‘Irish Troubles’ in the North of Ireland 🇮🇪
I know all too well about the impact of war & the devastation it causes. I wish every waking day for such events to stop & my heart breaks for everyone caught up in current conflicts 🫶🏾 🍉

My family background is pretty diverse, hence my openness and tolerance to all people. My adopted dad is Muslim Indian Gujarati & mum is a native of Cape Town. My son is Irish Zimbabwean. He has two mothers who are married & my most recent exwife is an Arab Muslim Egyptian.

Mostly an optimistic, ‘glass overflowing’ kind of guy who doesn’t sweat the small stuff in life, but I also appreciate that not everyone is similar & that’s okay. It’s important to be empathetic & understanding towards one another’s struggles & difference’s & if it means I get to make you laugh when we meet, then even better )))

I adore nature. I feel at my most content marvelling at the colours & offerings from Mother Earth, which is why Bali was my home until very recently.

Gaelic football is a passion of mine & I used to spend a lot of time training & running marathons (I’m recovering from knee surgery) & generally live for adventure. I’ve a filthy & at times dark sense of humour & usually find myself laughing at situations I shouldn’t be. That said, I’m deeply empathetic & sensitive to the plight of others who are less fortunate & dedicate time to much needed causes.

Sometimes I travel with my son, but mostly it's just me & usually when I have running events or globetrotting. Note, I am fortunate enough to be able to afford hotels. Air BnB’s, etc, but I genuinely love meeting new people & experiencing new adventures, so this app is ideal for someone like myself.

Feel free to invite me to be your CS sidekick. I’ve been all over the world getting up to all kinds of mischief. Shenanigans is my favourite pastime. That said, I can be content in many ways; happily just sitting alone reading a good book to getting sweaty & letting loose at a techno club, depending on the occasion.

Recently I juggled my studies part time to become a qualified clinical physiotherapist therapist & now invest my time in behavioural therapy as my vocation.

Dear future guests. I do not expect you to bring me anything as a gift. However, I do hope that you take something or offer something to all your other hosts. I see too many freeloaders on this site. If you are limited in funds, please just tell your host at the beginning. The culture of this platform has been built on empathy, understanding, giving & respect. That said, do not assume I will pay for everything. I am generous by nature, however there have been occasions when guests have stayed who brought nothing, contributed to nothing & yet was able to buy themselves countless cigarettes. Not cool.
I was raised differently & would never turn up empty handed to someone offering to help me. Again, I don’t expect you to bring me anything but your kindness & tolerance to my expectations. For the reasons I just outlined, I no longer host smokers. 🚭

Ps. I pride myself on my hygiene & cleanliness, particularly when it comes to daily self-care & would appreciate it a lot, if you had a similar approach to this. If you do not share this way of living, then please kindly decline any requests of mine to stay 🤝

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I stayed with a couchsurfer in Paris in 2017 when he hosted me to run the Paris Marathon. We instantly became good friends. Fast forward almost 10 years later & I am now the Godfather to his son & my son carried the ring down the aisle at his wedding. So it goes to show what this platform can lead to if you use it properly with good intentions.
