Unfortunately, over the years, the Couch Surfing community has become much worse. Many people nowadays use it only as a way to find free accomodation.

Yes, free accommodation is cool, but a big part of the couch surfing spirit is to share time with your host or fellow travelers. If you're only after free accommodation, please state it clearly. It's totally fine, but your host should know in advance.

Personally, I have a fulfilling life and I do not wish to host people that don't want to chat or hangout with their host. Hangouts are a hit and miss too, because all too often people are not respectful of other people's times and just disappear with no notice after making plans. We should all do better than that.
