About Me

"I was surprised, as always, by how easy the act of leaving was, and how good it felt. The world was suddenly rich with possibility."

Hi! My name is Shandi Newman, I am 26 years old and from Vancouver Island in Canada. I have always lived a very free sprited and adventerous life which has led me on many amazing adventures in the past. I love meeting new people and exploring and just living the fullest life I can while I am young :)

Although I have just re joined couchsurfing I have used this website before in my travels and absolutley love it! I hope my lack of references does not worry you as I am just starting a new adventure and slowley my profile will be full of new experiences.

I am excited to meet you and explore the city! Thank you so much for considering to host me.

Shandi xx

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I did a solo cross Canada trip about 5 years ago and couch surfed the entire way and met so many amazing people and had so much fun. I am planning to do a trip like this again soon in Europe and I think couch surfing is the best way!

Music, Movies, and Books

I really love beautiful hidden gem indie films and have come across so many amazing ones by my favorite are:

- comet
- safety not guarenteed
- lets ruin it with babies
- 500 days of summer

My favorite writer is Richard Brautigan and of COURSE greys anatomy is my favorite TV show.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My trip across Canada solo was the most lifechanging experience I have ever had. Sometimes you need to drop everything and detatch yourself from the real world for a moment and do something amazing and extraordinary to really appreciate everything again. I met so many genuine, beautiful people it really was something I will never forget.
