I am shawnEshawn. Citizen of Australia and the USA. I work half the year with youth in the performing arts and the other half traveling, frequently in my car around the USA(it's up to 291,000 miles already). Have been to Central America, around the Mediterranean, 5 out of the 7 states/territories of Australia, and 40 of the United States.

Easy going, I love maps, geography, history, hot weather, I like seeing how other people live and meeting good hearted folks.

When I'm home I like to bicycle, volunteer with an organization that works with special needs children and adults, play music. I'm a performer in my free time, a dancer (ballet, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, ballroom), it's great being on stage dancing acting or doing karaoke. I'm going to be taking an ariel silks class later this year, to learn to do what Cirque Du Soleil does. I love learning history and geography, and meeting new people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To see the world around me in a way different from being a tourist. To learn things I wouldn't otherwise learn. Also I love hearing a good story as well as sharing one on occasion.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 15 I bungee jumped in the rain forest of Australia in Queensland. It wasn't bungee jumping with a harness, it was the old-fashioned bungee secured around your ankles way. Was into a spring of water about waist deep as I dipped down from the crane. It was my parents who let me do it as we were on a vacation visiting family.

For those visiting Detroit, myself and my partner Tom love giving tours and sharing the history, geography, development, slums, buildings, happening and culture. We both have family that has been there since the 1800's and frequently know about things and places that most history misses.
