Über mich

CURRENT MISSION

Searching and lifting the hidden treasures in Europe 🍀

ABOUT ME

Hey you :)
I’m Silas and I live in Eberswalde in the vicinity of Berlin. I lived in several regions of Germany like Baden-Wuerttemberg, North Rhine-Westphalia und Bavaria.

I’m a open-minded, humorous and talkative person with a positive charisma. I have many facets and interests like cultural exchange and traveling, charities, politics, economy and finances, nature, environment and sustainability, veganism and vegetarism (I’m vegan), minimalism, philosophy and many more.

In my spare time, I travel as much as I can and try to implement in every trip an extraordinary adventure/activity/event. And I noticed that during my journey I’m very happy with just a few things. Furthermore, it’s such a good opportunity to learn more about yourself :)

Similarly, I‘m very happy when I can help other people and reciprocate for an offer or a kind behaviour :)

PHILOSOPHY

„Folks are usually about as happy as they make their minds up to be.” ― Abraham Lincoln
I strongly believe that outer circumstances have a much lower influence on our mood rather than inner attitude.
„The world is full of nice hosts and surfers. If you can't find one, be one.“ (Original quote by Nishan Panwar: "The world is full of nice people. If you can't find one, be one")
„Give every day a chance to be the best day of your life.“ ― Mark Twain

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

Some side effects like traveling cheaper, never be alone and improving foreign languages are for sure beneficial and shouldn’t be hided, but you can find these aspects also in a hostel. However, in a hostel you can't find an authentic life as a local with all the daily routines, duties and pleasures. Couchsurfing gives you the opportunity to dive into someone's "normal" life.

Why do you go on holidays with your best friend? To divide the expenses? To never be alone? To talk to someone? None of them. You go with your best friend, because you are like-minded, understanding, trustful and you are feeling comfortable together. Overall, that are my previous Couchsurfing experiences summarized 💚

Or in other words: to have new adventures and a lot of fun :)

Musik, Filme und Bücher

Regularly, I merely follow several YouTube channels and watch documentaries on Curiosity Stream (like Netflix, but only documentaries)

Books:
- How to Stop Worrying and Start Living by Dale Carnegie
- The Wim Hof Method: Activate Your Potential, Transcend Your Limits by Wim Hof
- Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art by James Nestor

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Every time when I had a crazy idea and did it, the experience was so rewarding. This includes:
- Cold exposure like an ice bath (I’m feeling newborn and totally freshed up)
- A 300 km bicycle tour in 30 hours and felt afterwards like a real zombie
- Hiked 45 km in 15 h during the night on the beautiful Lofoten (Norway) and felt afterwards like walked a marathon
- Camped several times in Sweden just with a tarpaulin (for trailers or logs) and fall asleep under the stars and woken up by the rays of the sun in the dawn

Lehren, lernen, teilen

TEACH
I can teach German (not in a professional manner), can be your city guide (apart from that that I don’t know that much about my city because I recently moved to this city) and can help you with your further traveling plans.

LEARN
Moreover, I like to listen to someone who has a great story to tell. I’m open-minded to new perspectives and new recommendations and I'm convinced that we all can learn something new from each other.

SHARE
As well I’m glad to share some experience which I had and shaped me until now. All in all, I’m pleased to exchange stories and experiences :)

HOSTING
And last but not least: If the nourishments in the supermarket aren’t hoarded, I can share some food ;)

Was ich mit Gastgebern teilen kann

Similar like my thoughts above. A good conversation can be very enriching for both sides. And I can "share" my grateful manner.

I experienced quite a lot with vegan substitute products and it would be a pleasure for me to cook them. Unfortunately, many recipes require „special“ ingredients. However, the good old "Kartoffelsalat" (potato salad) is quite easy :)

And needless to say, you are welcome in my 10.5 square meter kingdom when you come to Germany :)

Thank you for reading until here!
