Hello there, I'm Simon.

I'm from Czechia, although I lived out in the past couple years. First in England, where I studied Global Sustainable Development at the University of Warwick. Afterwards, I went to New Zealand to hike the Te Araroa trail and ended up staying for a couple of months after I finished. Now, I'm finishing a Master's in Narrative Futures in Edinburgh, after which I'm moving to Prague.

Since childhood I've been a part of an international youth-led NGO Plant-for-the-Planet, eventually founding its Czech office. Together we empower young people and communities to fight for climate justice and restore forests.

I'm also a passionate in writing, and playing music: piano, guitar, ukulele and singing. I used to write poetry but maybe I've gotten too old for that now.

And obviously, I love to travel. Above everything I appreciate a good hike, forests, mountains or water. Nevertheless, I also get amazed by the beauty of cities at night – considering there's plenty of greenery included.

Finally, I'm super excited about the couchsurfing community, even though I've barely scratched the surface of what it can offer.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to experience the country I'm visiting and getting to know its people is an important part of it which doesn't happen in hotels. That's why I am on couchsurfing. And as I love to hear the stories of others, I'll be happy to host someone in the future too in the UK or in Czechia.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2022-23, I hiked the Te Araroa Trail, over 3000 km on foot across the length of New Zealand, took me 5,5 months and was an absolutely life-changing experience.
