I've hosted CS'ers and participated in a local CS hike/meal/gathering.

Interests

I enjoy cross country skiing (though I am neither good nor fast). I like hiking, biking, walks on the coastal trail, disc golf, pool, scratch margaritas, chi-chi's, strawberry cosmopolitans, the Popeye Pizza (at Moose's Tooth), Hard Apple Ale (also Moose's Tooth), strawberry lemonade, my hammock and a good book.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite Movies: Its an eclectic mix-- but hey-- I'm a Gemini-- My moods swings with the tides and the moon...
. I really like M. Night Shyamalan. I think The Usual Suspects was a great flick. Love, Actually and My Big Fat Greek Wedding are good stories about *real* love.
Big (with Tom Hanks) is a good reminder of why we shouldn't be in a hurry to grow up...
I found CRASH to be a moving and thought-provoking movie, and a long-time favorite is the (new)€ Pride and Prejudice.
The Kite Runner was a great, but haunting movie about redemption.

Music:
I love Donovan Frankenreiter, John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Kenny Loggins, and Chris Isaak. Favorite soundtracks are the Beautiful Girls Soundtrack and the Love, Actually Sountrack. My favorite cantata is Carl Orff's Carmina Burana~ It's beyond wonderful and evokes powerful emotions.....

Books:
James Patterson is always a good read, even though I held a grudge against him for years (which I'm sure kept him awake many nights) after reading 1st to Die... . My favorite novel by him is When The Wind Blows... Other favorite authors: Douglas Preston &; Lincoln Child, Robert Fulghum, Dean Koontz (not so much for the scary stuff as for the supernatural and unknown elements of his writing). My favorite author in the metaphysical field is Richard Bach, although The Celestine Prophecy, by James Redfield haunted me for a long while. Fun, easy reads include Robert Asprin and his two series-- The Myth Book and The Phule books. Griffin and Sabine, by Nick Bantock proves that I do believe in LOVE and destiny, despite what I say and do.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In November 2019, I had the chance to travel to Malawi to build homes with Habitat for Humanity. After the trip, our group went to Zambia for a safari (visual, not hunting!)
The whole experience was incredible- I made lifelong friends, helped a village in desperate need, and was reminded how very fortunate I am.

Teach, Learn, Share

I listen well and try to practice "truth and kindness" rather than just "brutal honesty". I try to maintain a healthy and open perspective and believe one of the best parts of life is the chance for personal growth (sometimes painfully!). I have lots to learn and want to do more listening than talking (which is hard to believe with the way I talk....)
