ABOUT ME

I grew up in small town Riner, VA on the coolest farm on earth (well I think so anyway). We have a pumpkin festival every October that I tend to talk about often. The farm and the festival are really special to me.

I can proudly say I retired at 27. I used to be an auditor and financial analyst, but then got tired of working for the man. Now I only do taxes for food, alcohol and concert tickets. I mostly work seasonal jobs conveniently in cool places where I want to explore. I love open spaces and being outside.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now I do most of my traveling by working seasonal jobs. I live in community housing most of the time and unable to host. I tend to travel before and after each job and that is when I would be surfing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm kinda a newbie to surfing. The experiences I have had were very memorable.

I always love showing people the area where I grew up. I always feel a great sense of pride showing people where I am from. When I have a place of my own I cant wait to continue doing that.

Interests

Hanging out with friends, backpacking, kayaking, rock climbing, diving, brackets, any competitive activity...except activities that I am terrible at, pumpkin festivaling, ukuleleing, singing, dancing, laughing at myself, laughing at others, traveling around, trying new things, working with kids, and any interest a friend is passionate about

Music, Movies, and Books

Top 5 movies (no particular order): Pulp Fiction, Dazed and Confused, Up, Christmas Vacation, and Love Actually...I had to have one chick flick in there.

Music: Classic Rock, Dancin' music, oldies, songs I can sing loudly and in tune some of the time...even better when I can play them on my ukulele, Michael Jackson, Fleetwood Mac, Gangster rap, etc. Anything but whiny country.

Books: Hunger Games, LOTR, Harry Potter, 5 Love Languages, 4 Hour Workweek, and The Lorax. I try to read that one to each group of kids I have.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have quit a career that wasn't fulfilling to do work that I find meaningful, betters myself, allows me to be active, outside and where I can be a good role model.

Sunrises, sunsets and vast horizons always take my breath away. I cant wait to go to another beautiful open space to just sit and be.
