About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Teaching in Hong Kong

ABOUT ME

I'm an American, age 25, living in Hong Kong and working as a Native English Teacher or NET.

I enjoy writing about my travels and having new experiences around the globe. Like anyone I enjoy relaxing and eating good food. On the other hand, sometimes life gets challenging and we all have to either get serious or go home. A life of travel is not easy for those of us with moderate financial means!

PHILOSOPHY

Low expectations make for good experiences. You could say this is the secret to happiness haha

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Organizing and participating in local activities.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed with a few generous people in Australia, NZ and now Hong Kong. I've also organized and joined a few outings and meetups with fellow CSers.

Interests

Travel, camping, hiking, technology, extreme sports and eating good food.

Music, Movies & Books

Movies: Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, action/comedy movies like Die Hard.

Music: generally upbeat music.

Books: I enjoy sci-fi by authors like Steve Alten and Michael Crichton.

One Amazing Thing I've Done

I've been around Europe, the USA, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and now Hong Kong. I've been sky diving, jet boating, river rafting, canyon swinging, paragliding, etc. All were a lot of fun but, for me, none of this comes close to the thrill of backpacking/camping around New Zealand on a motorcycle!

Teach, Learn, Share

Listening is way more useful than talking. Leave one thing left unsaid everyday.

The best way to learn about the world is to go out and experience it!

What I Can Share With Hosts

It depends on the host. For the super keen host I always enjoy a good adventure or local experience of some sort. Some hosts are a bit more simple or maybe busy so we might just enjoy a few good conversations and share the chores around their place. In any case, I've never had anything less than an amazing time with any of my hosts (knock on wood) and I look forward to my hosts in the future!

Countries I've Visited

Canada, China, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Ireland, Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I've Lived In

Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, United States
