About Me

Teaching in Spain

I'm an American, age 26, going to teach in Spain October 1st in the Auxiliares de Conversacion program.

I like writing about my travels which take me all around the globe. Like anyone I enjoy relaxing and eating good food. On the other hand, sometimes life gets hard and we all have to either get serious or go home. The ups and downs are all part of the experience!

Travel blog:

Low expectations make for good experiences. You can get used to anything - its about the place not the luxury. Make an effort, not an excuse. If you enjoy what you do, you never work a day in your life. Be happy with what you have and you'll never want for anything. Waste not, want not. Yeah, I could go on...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Organizing and participating in local activities.

I've surfed with a few generous people in Australia, NZ and now Hong Kong. I've also organized and joined a few outings and meetups with fellow CSers. I would like more opportunities to host, just gotta get a place of my own!

Travel, camping, hiking, technology, extreme sports and eating good food.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, action/comedy movies like Die Hard.

Music: positive.

Books: I enjoy sci-fi by authors like Steve Alten and Michael Crichton.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been around Europe, the USA, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong. I've been sky diving, jet boating, river rafting, canyon swinging, paragliding, etc. All were a lot of fun but, for me, none of this comes close to the thrill of backpacking/camping around New Zealand on a motorcycle! Yeah... good times.

Teach, Learn, Share

Avoid general concepts and look for the reality in everything. Be calm and allow your brain to work through information. Einstein once said "It's not that I'm so smart, it's just that I stay with problems longer."

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good conversation is a plus. If time allows, I'm always up for some kind of adventure or just a walk around town. I'm happy to share the chores and cook if that sounds good to everyone. Yeah, I'm easy.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, China, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Ireland, Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, United States
