About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To see the world for myself, not out of books.
ABOUT ME
My family and faith are the most important to me. I have been married for 30+ years. My husband and I have two great sons. One of them is now living in Tennessee as an engineer and the other lives in Colorado. We are finally empty-nesters! I come from a large Catholic family (seven brothers and sisters) and I strive to live by my faith's principles.
We live in the country with two dogs (one stays in at night) and four indoor cats. Sometimes the cats spend a little time outside.
I grew up in Wisconsin, and decided to move to New Mexico over 35 years ago to get to know my grandparents better. Granted, I was only going to live in Roswell for two years, but I met my husband and have never left.
My husband does not like to travel, but I absolutely love it! Because of this, my two boys got to travel often with me. Both of my grown sons enjoy traveling and will probably continue traveling now that they are adults. I have been to all of the states in United States. So, the next thing on my bucket list is traveling to all seven continents although Antarctica is not high on the list. :) A few summers ago my youngest son and I traveled to Brazil, so South America is finally checked off my list. With that being said, I don't have as many references as another host in Roswell since I do travel periodically during the year. Please don't let this discourage you from requesting to stay in our home. If I'm around, I can normally accommodate Couchsurfers.
I am a retired teacher of gifted and talented students. I enjoyed teaching, but hated the politics. I taught for 28 years in the Roswell public schools both in middle and elementary schools. Now that I am retired, I teach science to middle school students in one of the private schools. I also tutor and volunteer in other schools and with many different organizations in town. Plus, I am the director of Camp Invention in Roswell for one week during the summer.
I am a Teacher Liaison for the Space Foundation and enjoy learning and teaching others about space. I have attended the Space Symposium, fantastic workshops and trainings about space, and Teacher Space Camp in Alabama.
I stay very busy with activities throughout the week. I am involved in many activities such as the Roswell Astronomy Club and different events at church. I also enjoy scrapbooking.
PHILOSOPHY
To experience as much of the world that I can before I physically cannot.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I enjoy couchsurfing and hosting! Meeting people from around United States and the world is fascinating. It is wonderful having people from all ethnicities, religions, and cultures in our home. My sons and I have couchsurfed in United States and my oldest son and I surfed around Europe. My family has hosted many people from United States and other countries and have had great experiences.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We have stayed with many people in their homes around United States and Europe. All were great experiences! Everyone we stayed with has been very helpful and welcoming in their homes. I am so glad that I found out about couchsurfing. The experiences my family has had with everyone has been very positive. I highly recommend it to everyone.
We have also hosted numerous people from all over the world and many from the United States which has been wonderful! Learning about other cultures and the surfers' travels is a lot of fun. Everyone in the family is benefiting greatly from each couchsurfing experience.

I enjoy reading mysteries, comedies, and romance novels. I also like to read good children's books. That is the teacher in me.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I studied in Salamanca, Spain for one semester when I was in college. We have hosted high school exchange students in our home for a few years. They were from Denmark, Australia, and Brazil.
I have also walked 26.2 miles two years in a row and the 15.2 mile honorary march twice in the Bataan Death March at White Sands Missle Range.
I attended Space Camp for Teachers in Huntsville, Alabama. The training was fantastic!
Teach, Learn, Share
Anyone with a story! :) I love to be able to make my guests feel welcome. I enjoy sharing my home with others and hope those who stay want to share their stories with me as I like to share stories of my travels. I would not mind teaching someone how to make simple and delicious beer bread.

I can share all sorts of stories, laughs, and an ear to listen.
