About Me
Hi! I’m Sofia :)
I was born and raised in China and have been living in the US since 2019. I’m now working as a special education teacher—it's a job that challenges me and fills my heart every single day.
In the past few years, I’ve used Couchsurfing more and more, and honestly, it’s changed the way I travel. Every experience I’ve had through it has made my trips so much more special—full of kindness, laughter, late-night talks, shared meals, and random adventures I never could’ve planned. When I look back on those travels, it’s always the Couchsurfing moments that sparkle the most.
I’m all about the little joys—sunlight through trees, music in the air, getting lost in a new neighborhood, or laughing over a shared meal. Lately I’m getting obsessed with drawing and always get excited when I meet fellow creative souls on the road. I’m super curious and pretty spontaneous—always down to try something new, join a random adventure, or say “yes” to whatever weird and wonderful thing the day brings. I also love hiking, rock climbing, and being outside where I can feel alive and connected.
What I love most about Couchsurfing is the energy—the way strangers become friends, the openness, the realness. It reminds me that the world is full of good people. I travel to connect, to share, to learn, and to live fully in the moment.
"Live, travel, adventure, bless, and don't be sorry." — Jack Kerouac
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Traveling with Couchsurfing turns a regular trip into something way more fun, meaningful, and full of surprises. I’ve surfed in San Francisco, NYC, DC, Chicago, Madison, Puerto Rico, Paris, Rome… and every time, I’ve come home with stories, new friends, and memories that make me smile.
I’ve been really active in the Denver CS community since 2022—I host weekly meetups now and then (my favorite was a Chinese paper-cutting night!), helped organize Denver CouchCrash 2023 (total blast!), and just love hanging out with people who are curious, kind, open, and adventurous. This year I also joined the CouchCrashes in Chicago and Madison and had so much fun!
I love sharing my culture and learning about others—whether it’s through food, art, conversations, or just walking around a new city together. Couchsurfing keeps reminding me how awesome people can be, and I’m always excited for the next connection, wherever that may be.

Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to basically everything. Music has its magic. My favorites are acoustic, folk, country, latin, hiphop, classic rock, jazz, swing, surf, ... told you I like everything when it comes to music! Lol.
My definition of "A great movie" is that the movie can make me laugh hard, cry hard, and can make me think. Any recommendations?
I just finished the first book of The Three-Body Problem. I always like learning new things and thinking.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Kayaking in a bioluminescent bay under a sky full of stars. We were the only ones out there, gliding through glowing water in a clear-bottom kayak. Every paddle lit up with blue sparkles, and when I touched the water, it shimmered like magic. My host pointed out constellations with a laser as we floated in silence. It was peaceful, surreal—so beautiful it almost made me cry.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm always interested in other people's life stories and in learning things from good conversations. I'm always happy to share my culture, my experience and what I've learned with others too. Life is all about experiencing, learning and growing.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share my life stories and some Chinese culture, maybe teach you some Chinese. If you're down I can cook Chinese food too. I'm happy to help around during my stay!
