About Me

My name is Sofie, I'm 28, and now I'm reviving my old Couchsurfing profile, which I had used more heavily when I was 18-20..

I'm a person who is sometimes a bit with the head in the clouds, as I dream often. But that necessarily got better during my time studying International Business (I urgently wanted to work internationally) and working in CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) for a big supermarket chain.

I am able to do unusual decisions and love it. After quitting my job, I directed my attention to my passions, which are pursuing an academic career in philosophy and working as a mediator. Former one is for myself and the second one too but is convenient as it also brings in some money.

I used to be very interested in the intersection of philosophy, politics, and economics - especially as I perceived many contents in my Bachelors in international business as incomplete. Ocasionally, I criticise how there is missing plurality in the academic field of economics.
However, my focus shifted away from political philosophy towards existentialist philosophy, metaphysics, and epistemology. Therefore, I want to do another masters in pure philosophy in order to do a phd.

In my semester abroad in Japan, I got more in touch with Zen, and its philosophical takes on it. I tried some daily meditation with the app of Sam Harris, but I am still not sure if I really want to pursue it further or if it is the spiritual path I want to choose.

Apart from that, I love to move in nature and like to go surfing, hiking, skiing, and occasionally I like bouldering too. I also enjoy acrobatics, a session of badminton or ping pong.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I did Couchsurfing in summer 2015 with my best friend, Leonie, through Swiss, Italy and Amsterdam and later on also in New York. All Couchsurfing experiences have been wonderful and shaped my perception about the kindness of people internationally. I want to try my best to contribute to the general perception that people are rather good than bad.

The profile I had with my best friend is to see here (it is older and we have been way younger and sillyier :D but there are also other references ^^) https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/leonie+sofie
