About Me

I am tall (first thing you will notice about me), optimistic and relaxed but also adventurous and fun-loving. I love travelling, meeting new people, and making friends. It's actually quite hard for me to stay at one place for too long without planning the next trip..
I lived in California in the San Francisco Bay Area for a year and worked as an Au Pair. It was amazing- I fell in love with the city and people there! After that I went to Buenos Aires to volunteer for 2 months- another city I learned to love, I miss my friends from there. (in case you are interested in going there, here is my blog, unfortunately in German but there's a Google translate tool: sophiebuenosaires.blogspot.com)
I spent the last semester t in Auckland as an exchange student and after that I travelled through NZ, Australia and South East Asia with my boyfriend Stephen. (my german blog: sophiezealand.blogspot.com)

So, I live in Vienna and love this city, the architecture, food, that there are lots of events and things to do, such as theaters, open-air events, markets... I am spontaneous and love hanging out with friends, going out, strolling around, and above all travelling and seeing as much of the world as possible...

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

I enjoy couchsurfing a lot, in the beginning I found it a bit awkward to enter into some strangers home (and life) but it is very interesting and I want learn more about the people at places I am travelling to.

If you write me a request please answer this question, so I know you've at least took some time to read about me instead of sending a copy+paste request: What is the funniest place you've ever drank beer/wine at?

So far I couchsurfed in London, Paris, San Francisco, Honolulu, Maui, Seattle, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Miami, Baltimore, New York, Mar del Plata, Lisbon, Munich, Christchurch, and Auckland. I have hosted some people as well.. It always turned out great :) Couchsurfing is one of the coolest and easiest way to get known to new people whilst travelling.. I am still good friends with almost everyone I met through cs.

traveling, surfing, arts, music, festivals, food, riding, dancing, markets, ballet, yoga, movies, theatres, exploring cities, swimming, cooking, alpine skiing, hiking, reading, tennis, adventure sports...
I love to challenge myself and always want to try out something new.

I enjoy different genres depending on my mood and the situation, I like hip hop, electro and dubstep for partying, but I could dance to anything..and I love to listen to new songs too.

I love movies (independent and mainstream) and books (any book that when you start reading, you don't want to put down again).

One Amazing Thing I've Done

skydived in hawaii, petted a tiger cub and a grown lion, snorkeled with turtles, watched the sunrise from the top of a volcano, jumped off cliffs, did a Safari in Kenya, snorkelled at the great barrier reef, hitchhiked all over New Zealand, hot water beach on Coromandel, New Years in NYC, stood on the edge of the Crand Canyon, swam with dolphins, Oktoberfest in Munich, backpacked through South East Asia,
I enjoy the "small" really amazing moments in life like standing on the beach at night and looking into the ocean (and then maybe go skinny dipping).

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to learn about other cultures: food, customs, languages, arts, architecture, and music..

And I can learn you some (useful or not so useful) german words if you want...
I would love to go surfing to get better, I also would like to learn how to play the guitar but I haven't got a chance to start yet..

What I Can Share With Hosts

I am respectful, interested in learning new things, love meeting people, would enjoy cooking together, have some drinks maybe, go out, watch a movie together...
