About Me

I will be willing to help with offering a short stay for a few days if someone is in the area. However, it is a secure building community with shared amenities, and due to lease restrictions, even though this is not a re-rental or a sublet, I will need to accompany my guest while navigating anywhere within the building premises.
*****Long bio alert******
After a more socially acceptable start to my academic and professional career, which included standing first in my High School exams (and joint sixth in all of India in his education board), a BE (with Honors) in Mechanical Engineering from one of the top engineering institutes in India (BITS Pilani), a 2250 in GRE with absolutely zero preparation, and a first job at Infosys, one of India’s top IT concerns, I decided to venture out into the big, bad world to ditch bookish education and substitute it with an experiential one!
In my spare time, which is sparing at best, and when I am not out volunteering for different community organizations, I love engaging my geeky side to the fullest extent — and obsessively engage in absorbing random trivia, and solving puzzles of any and every kind, primarily crosswords and sudoku — one of my proudest achievements being able to completely solve the New York Times crossword 137 days in a row before being forced to break the chain due to 18-hour workdays that included weekends.
Having gone up to a High Red belt in HapKiDo, before being forced to move due to a job change just before my Black Belt test, I hope to get back to it someday, and credit Yoga and running for staying in somewhat of a decent shape, while always being mindful of the ever present room for improvement. I also wish to go back to writing poetry some day, something which has always occupied a special place in my heart, and helped me win awards in college.
A universalist when it comes to approaching people from all over the world, I consider myself to be a global citizen first and foremost, instead of identifying with any exclusive and divisive tags.
A lifelong and certifiable black sheep (irrespective of skin color, since that would have qualified me as a ‘brown sheep’), I feel uncomfortable with certainty and strive for a meditation-driven comfort in uncertainty.
In spite of English and Mathematics being two of my greatest loves, my engineering degree placed me in IT, which is where I try to make myself useful during regular work hours, and spend the rest of my time trying to accommodate other social and extracurricular activities, with an optional and approximately five-hour gap for sleep.
Other than the above, I try to spread positive awareness through Facebook, random acts of kindness, and recruiting of fellow dreamers — a la John Lennon — to be my kindred souls in this short journey called Life.
I'm a member of the Triple Nine Society, International Society for Philosophical Enquiry, Intertel, Mensa and the International High IQ Society, however I do believe that a high EQ is not proportional to a high IQ -- something I learnt the hard way in my relatively more naive days. :-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love helping people and also learning about other cultures and/or sharing stories of life experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a very eclectic taste in all three. Open to specific questions as well as suggestions.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Just one? Hmm. I'll have to go with when I ran 50 marathons in just over 3.5 years. I was obsessed with them, but that was pre-COVID. I've also gone skydiving 4 times. Oops, that's two. See? I knew it. There's more. I have tons of stories. Solo road trips through 39 US states have definitely helped grow that list of amazing experiences.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Canada, Germany, Iceland, India, Ireland, Mexico, Netherlands, Singapore, United States
