Overview
About Me
I am striving to be a good world citizen and a better father. I love living in the desert and mountains. I have a good sense of humor and enjoy getting a little silly and a little intellectual, too! I love to learn about, travel to and explore different cultures and countries. I would call myself a progressive and liberal person who likes to get to know many types of people from all over the world. I am an introverted extrovert, or is it an extroverted introvert? I think mutual tolerance and compassion make all the difference in the world.
"Can I share with you my worldview? All of humankind has one thing in common: the sandwich. I believe that all anyone really wants in this life is to sit in peace and eat a sandwich." -- Liz Lemon, "30 Rock"
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have primarily been a host during my time with CS. I love meeting people, and hosting for one night is great, but I feel like a longer stay usually fosters more meaningful interactions.
I have had great experiences and met so many cool people being a CS host; I hope to do some more surfing in the near future. I value good communication (emails, calls, texts) between hosts and surfers, i.e., expectations, following up on requests and replies, and updates on changes in plans.
POST-COVID VAX HOSTING: I'm playing it by ear so drop me a line, and we'll figure it out -- vaccinated folks only please!
Interests
I enjoy reading, hanging out with my friends and neighbors, hiking, traveling, the arts, the outdoors, coffee, learning languages -- Portuguese right now!, Scrabble, trivia, Nordic and Greek mythologies, movies, siestas, a glass or two of good wine or beer, cooking and trying new food and recipes, and gardening. I'm interested in cohousing and the creation of intentional and unintentional communities of all types, too!

Music, Movies, and Books
I love most kinds of movies, including offbeat, classic, mainstream and foreign films, most kinds of music (rock, country, classical, mariachi, opera, pop and folk), and all kinds of books, mostly novels and cookbook.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My top 3 amazing things: Seeing the Grand Canyon both as a kid and an adult, meeting my "tribe of cousins" in Sweden, and becoming a father to two amazing human beings -- and now a grandfather to another amazing human!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can share my talents in cooking, writing and my thoughts about spirituality, personal growth and development. I'd love to find out what energizes you and brings you peace and contentment. If you like to cook, I'm an eager student! I'd be open to learning some yoga, too!
