actually... I circumnavigated the globe starting in California heading only east for two whole years from ages 18-20, without leaving the surface, i.e. mostly hitchhiking and boats/ships. I took only 2 very short-distance plane rides when there were no other options: Cyprus to Israel and Calcutta to Bangkok (cuz Burma was closed to Americans).
