ABOUT ME

I moved to China after over 2 years travelling and working my way around the world, during which I grew a FANTASTIC beard.... only to cut it off once I got home. I have dual nationality which was a great start in Europe, which I have also travelled through a lot. And I hate shoes.

PHILOSOPHY

Still working on this one. I will say yes to just about anything, usually without thinking. This has been known to get me into trouble.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Have hosted in China, Germany and Japan, built bikes for surfers in New Orleans and stayed with some pretty cool CSers in India, Iran, US...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Usually just meeting people by chance and getting offers. Had an excellent time in India, spent a while with this family and had some pretty into it conversations and evenings. Mainly hosting at the moment, it's interesting to see what kind of people make it down to Xiamen instead of just the usual trip to Beijing.

Anything sufficiently weird or something that will prod me and make me think about why I'm sitting here instead of doing something else. I loved Shantaram, got obsessed with Einstürzende Neubauten and travelled through 20 countries to see Tool. I love a good concert by The Mars Volta, Nine Inch Nails or Beck, and Elliott Smith, Calexico, Nick Cave, Pink Floyd and Dresden Dolls posters grace my walls (when I am lucky enough to have any). Movies... Naked Lunch, Idiocracy, Syriana, Contact, The Life Aquatic, The Proposition, Little Miss Sunshine, In My Fathers Den, Children of Men...

Travelled through the fallout zone of Chernobyl in Southern Belarus and made a film about it.

Can teach you how to get into rock concerts in Europe for free (usually) ;) And I have been known to fix computers...
