Overview
About Me
Hi! My name is Suhrob Nurov, I'm 29 years old and originally from Tajikistan. I graduated from the Faculty of International Relations at Tajik National University, where I studied Diplomacy. I'm passionate about discovering how different cultures interact and how international cooperation can help solve global challenges.
Currently, I work as the Head of the International Relations Department at the Committee for Food Security under the Government of Tajikistan. That means I often get to connect with people from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds — something I truly enjoy!
Outside of work, I love meeting new people, exploring new places, and having meaningful conversations. I believe Couchsurfing is a great way to experience local life, make new friends, and share stories over tea or coffee.
I'm respectful, open-minded, and always happy to learn from others. Whether we're cooking together, walking around your city, or just talking about life — I'm sure we’ll find common ground!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I believe that the best way to understand a country is through its people. Couchsurfing is not just about finding a place to stay — it’s about creating real human connections, learning from others, and sharing moments that go beyond borders or languages.
As someone who works in international relations, I deeply value intercultural dialogue. Meeting locals, hearing personal stories, and seeing a place through their eyes is something no guidebook can offer.
I love the idea of mutual exchange — whether it's sharing a meal, a conversation, or simply kindness and curiosity. That’s why I’m here.

Music, Movies, and Books
🎵 Music: I enjoy many styles — from traditional Tajik music and Persian classics to jazz, soul, and a bit of indie rock. I also love acoustic music with meaning, and sometimes just relaxing instrumental pieces after a long day.
If you play music, I’m always happy to listen or even sing along (badly but with heart)!
📚 Books: I read both fiction and non-fiction. I’m interested in world history, diplomacy, and travel literature. Some of my favorite authors include Paulo Coelho, Rumi, and Khaled Hosseini. I also enjoy books that explore human psychology, cultures, and global affairs.
🎬 Movies: I appreciate meaningful films — dramas, documentaries, and world cinema. Movies like The Kite Runner, The Intouchables, or The Lives of Others leave a lasting impact on me. But I’m also always up for a good comedy or travel-themed movie that makes you want to pack your bag and go.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the things I’m most proud of is giving a speech at the United Nations Office in Geneva. It was an incredible experience to speak on behalf of my country and contribute to discussions on international cooperation. Standing in that room, surrounded by people from all over the world working toward shared goals, was truly unforgettable. It reminded me why I chose a career in diplomacy — to help build bridges between nations and cultures.
Teach, Learn, Share
I believe that every person we meet can teach us something new — and I always try to bring a warm spirit of curiosity and mutual respect.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I’d love to share insights about Tajikistan’s culture, history, and daily life. I can tell you about Central Asia’s place in global affairs, and share stories from my experience working in diplomacy and international cooperation.
If you're interested, I can also teach you a few words in Tajik or Russian, cook traditional Tajik dishes, or simply exchange ideas about international relations, travel, or current events.
I’m always eager to listen and learn in return.
