About Me
CURRENT MISSION
...to help my country run the EU for a couple of months. It's fun! (For real!)
ABOUT ME
I am open-minded and easy-going, I love lions and coffee and cool people and political (or other) discussions, I like to meet new people and to enjoy free time with good friends or with complete strangers who are fun to talk to. I originally come from Slovakia, but I've lived in various places around Europe (Prague, Leuven, Oxford, Bratislava, and now Brussels). Travelling has always been a great hobby of mine, so I´d love to see a piece of world before I settle down, old and boring... :-P
PHILOSOPHY
I love living my life and I wouldn't want to trade it with anyone else. Actually, maybe for a year or two - why not. But I would want to be 'me' again after a while! :))
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I used to welcome couchsurfers when I lived in Leuven (in 2012-2014), but then I moved to Oxford for two years and wasn't able to host people. That also explains why I have no recent references. At the moment, I live in Brno (Czech Rep) with my husband. Our flat can host two people quite comfortably, and even more guests who are not too picky :-)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Only positive! :)
Interests
I love learning new things, meeting new people, setting new goals. I'm an enthusiast and I love starting things (and hate finishing them). I like my job (working for my home country in the EU institutions) and I'm also very much into everything that has to do with education. I organise all sorts of summer schools, education events, and I do informal mentoring of high-school students as well. (It's much more fun than it sounds!) I guess I'm an idealist - but I haven't found a good reason not to be optimistic and naive (yet). The life is better that way! :))

Music, Movies, and Books
I love to listen to jazz, especially when I work. As for movies, I'm happy to watch anything that doesn't make me fall asleep - as long as it has a good story line, I'm happy. Books? I love them all. Currently I'm reading memoires of EU founding fathers (Schuman, Adenauer, Churchill - and yes, I'm reading them all at the same time, that's the way I am) but also some short stories by Karel Capek and I've just started reading Soumission by Michel Houellebecq.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Leaving home at the age of 16 to study in the USA, then in the Czech Republic, then in Belgium and then in the UK... Long story short: the most amazing thing I've done was to leave home early and get to know the world. My parents regret it but I don't. Also, the most amazing thing I have seen was a sunrise, because of which I climbed on an extremely tall chimney and almost died. Still worth it!
Teach, Learn, Share
That's what my life is all about, actually. I'll be happy to tell you more about it. But careful - I've been told that when I start talking about my summer projects and my high-school mentees, I'm unstoppable. (Don't tell me I didn't warn you...)
