Overview
About Me
Hello, my name is Sunny and if you are reading this then you will probably be a page in my story of going to every country in the world.
Ever since I was young, I have been fortunate enough to travel, as I was born to a father who had seen the world, and a mother who has always put me above all else. In short, by the time I was 17, I had seen places and things that many people on the Island I was born on, have only heard of.
But like every youngling, I had enjoyed it, but still preferred to play video games in my room. That was until I got the opportunity to partake in DiscoverEU - a free 1 month rail pass across Europe for every EU citizen turning 18 (thanks mum) - with that I set off on my first ever solo trip, and I haven’t looked back since.
Since then, through many “small” trips listed here:
Spain (with a friend the week after I turned 18) - 02/24
Eurorail - 07/24
Antalya - 10/24
Baltics - 12/24
Ireland - 01/25 (25th country by the age of 18)
Central Asia - 05/25
Balkans - 07/25
Western Europe + Moldova, Ukraine - 09/25
Portugal + Microstates - 12/25
Malta - 01/26 (50th country by the age of 19)
The gap’s in my trips are because of my university degree in England, where im studying computer science. Otherwise I would be travelling full time aha
But that is just my backstory, whats important is the now, and what more I can do. I live to experience, I love both the fast paced travel of running around a city in a couple days, to soaking in the routine of a town for much longer. I especially love the people, I have always been a “people make the place” person, and love to connect with locals, or expats, as everyone always has reasons for staying or leaving. I truly believe that there is common ground with everyone, and that the majority of people act out of love in their actions. Im interested in sharing my stories and especially interested in hearing yours - I already know everything about myself, but each other person is a treasure box of mystery I am fascinated in.
No matter your religion, political view, race or football team (except Tottenham 😂) - I want to hear it, so please dont shy away no matter how radical or extreme it is (as long as you dont mind being challenged on it aha)
Some bucket list items: Skydive, sail across the Atlantic, climb Everest.
If you are looking to surf, please read my home profile!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I can’t think of a better way to connect with locals and travel affordably than through couchsurfing. I’ve found that people who host or surf tend to be more openminded and full of stories than most - and I’d love to connect with others who share that spirit :)
Its the same with hitchiking, if you’ve hitchiked I’d love to hear about it, I’ve done quite a bit and always plan to do more ;)
And now that I’ve hosted a few times I also love to give back to the community that has given me so much, I will always try my best to help those in need, whether through hosting or anything else.
Interests
A wide array of things, but I LOVE trying new things, I will try anything once. I love to talk about personal philosophies and life goals. If you can teach me something about the world I’ll be forever grateful!
But in more specific topics, internet culture, religion, and history, and of course travel.
- history
- religion
- hitchhiking
- budget travel
- nature
- videography
- new experiences
- new friends
- every passport stamp
Music, Movies, and Books
I have a travel playlist that I’m constantly looking for recommendations, but “horse with no name” is my favourite song.
For film I think Into The Wild, Papillon, and Dead Poets Society are my top three.
In terms of books I am reading Confessions by St Augustine right now, and although Im quite a slow reader Im always open for suggestions :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I think one is too limiting!
Coolest thing I’ve done is backpack the balkans, 9 countries, 30 days on £42.05 / €48.43 for EVERYTHING, food, transport, accommodation. What a time
Horse riding in Kyrgyzstan, Im a better storyteller in person, but its one of those experiences that stays in your mind forever, I’d love to inspire and share that story with you!
Hitchhiked from Barcelona to; Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, Zurich, Vaduz, Milan - in that order, in winter 😵💫, but it was AMAZING!
Hitchhiked in 20(+?) countries
Visited a country that doesnt exist (Hint: Last bastion of the USSR)
Teach, Learn, Share
I could teach you how to make the best sandwich I’ve ever eaten! Should be a picture (that doesnt do it justice) on my page.
I am fluent in English, and conversational in Czech, so if you’d like to practise either I’d be more than happy to help.
I’d love to learn absolutely anything - but im most interested in all types of philosophies / religions as I find them so interesting, what makes a person tick and what you think our purpose on Earth is.
And if you are interested in any of the countries I’ve visited I’d love to help you as much as possible and give you all I know.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can cook, clean or walk the dog, i really dont mind, that being said I wont win any Michelin stars aha
Other than the obvious of respecting your home as my own, I can also offer travel stories and a new perspective.
(I know every number between 1 and 1 million off by heart)
I can teach you how I lived off of €1.62 a day for a month in Europe aha
I come originally from the small island of Jersey so I can also tell you what life is like on that small crown dependancy.
Advice on any of the (50/197) countries I have been to so far - or contacts of people who have been further then me, you will have access to a network of travellers I have built up that might come in useful somehow (world is very small in my experience).
