About Me

CURRENT MISSIONS (**note: away travelling for a few months**)

- authentic connections
- embracing perfection in imperfection (wabi sabi)
- writing books. https://artofcouchsurfing.weebly.com
- paddle 65 rivers in 65 months. https://65rivers.weebly.com

ABOUT ME

wilderness buddhist monk with peanut butter MnMs in my alms bowl. (yes, a veggie who isn't allergic to candy :)

PHILOSOPHY

a touch of zen, tao te ching, and MnMs.
my house burned down - now I can see the moon more clearly.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Remember centuries ago when a tired traveler wandered into a hamlet - a local would open their door, invite them in, give them a hunk of bread and a place by the hearth for the night. Stories might be exchanged, or perhaps hardly a word spoken - no problemo. CS is but an extension of this age-old custom (bread might be optional).

Some recent CS travellers inspired me so much I wrote a book on the Art of Couchsurfing. I'm also a member of Servas.org (the United Nations version of couchsurfing).

...and it's not about the couch - it's about the people.

Interests

philosophy, writing, paddling, music, yoga, ethnic foods, the wild, the soul, authentic connections, tai chi, wholewheat pancakes, telemark skiing, hiking, protecting old-growth forests, did I mention MnMs?

Teach, Learn, Share

I love the sharing lifestyle. Whether we share stories, food, ideas, homes, or cars - this is how humanity can authentically live. Awesome!!!

What I Can Share with Hosts

a ride from the ferry... water... maybe both... ;)
...also pretty good at pretending to be an adventure guide.
... if you leave your shoes by the front door I'll make you Mexican pizza.

If space is available, I usually accept everything from last minute requests to 1 to 2 months away requests.

Happy to accommodate your needs. If you want a quiet space to chill and catch up on sleep and maybe laundry - no problemo. If looking for a more active stay, I would be happy to share all my favourite outdoor spots via hiking and/or paddling. Just message me if you have any questions. Happy to share just about anything - via any medium. (um, just not FB :)
