I'd like to back to the category of Languages in which I am Fluent...I tried to enter SARCASM, but was denied.
I recently moved to Beverly, Massachusetts from Essex Junction, Vermont. My current flat-mate is an enormous cat named Darth Vadar (see photos) who may, or may not answer to "Fatso" as is the way of cats. IF I FAIL TO RESPOND TO A COUCH REQUEST, PLEASE send me a message on FaceBook.
Personal Philosophy hmmm, I seek to enjoy the gifts that the world offers. I seek to share the gifts that I have been given. I have raised 4 wonderful people and they are now making their own ways in the world...and it is my turn to do that, as well. By participating in the couchsurfing experience, I feel that I am, indeed, helping to make the world a better place one couch at a time.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have hosted several people and I am loving the new Invite Surfers option. I have couchsurfed in Iceland and England. I have met the nicest people both hosting and surfing. If I have a home I can host a couchsurfer is my motto. My current accommodations are quite deluxe and I have had a good number of couch requests and that is a wonderful thing. That being said, I seem to attract a lot of first time couchsurfers and I feel that they perhaps should be enlightened to certain, mmm, customs perhaps. I feel that it is appropriate, if some kind person is going to save you untold money by allowing you to stay with them, to bring some manner of "Hostess/Host Gift" I would always prefer to have something from a couchsurfers home town/country, like a FRIDGE MAGNET. If you mention the FRIDGE MAGNET in your CouchRequest, I will know that you took the time to read my profile and I am more like to accept your request. Just Sayin' I know that this is not always convenient so maybe a nice bottle of wine or fancy soap. Just a little something. I would not ever consider arriving on someone's doorstep with nothing. So, there you go. Other than that, if you were raised properly, you know to clean up after yourself and behave. That's all.
My first cs experiences was vicarious. My then 19 yo son, Stephen Michael had a 27 hour layover at Keflavik airportand through cs and then fb, I was able to hook up with some wonderful cs'ers(I <3 Reykjvik) who instructed Stephen Michael(via the webs and the mama) to take the bus into Reykjavik by which time we were connecting on fb. So while Stephen was sitting in the bus station messaging me at home how he was going to know Audur's boyfriend, he sees "the boyfriend"friend request, accepts and there's a picture of a guy and he looks up and there's the same guy ! So, Hrannar took Stephen to their home and fed him and then took him out and on a tour. With the beatiful blond sister, btw, what could be finer? It was during July so he got to experience that midnight sunset. Then they took him home and tucked him into a real bed,(as the Princess was away) let him sleep for as long as he could before returning him to the bus station so he could get back to the airport. He and I were both so impressed with the warmth of these couhsurfers. I knew that I was home. Since then, I have couchsurfed in Iceland and England and I have hosted couchsurfers from Poland, Lithuania, Austria and France and Germany,Italy, Morocco,Vietnam, Thailand, and Maryland,Illinois and Massachusetts!(Italy, Morocco, and Vietnam were hosted simultaneously :).

Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy comedy more than drama these days.( I have 3 daughters supplying all the necessary theatrics) Although I do love The Lion in Winter, the 1968 one, and I love British Television (from Fawlty Towers to Shameless)I am fan and enjoy all kinds of music except nasty mean hateful stuff. I love Books.I recently re-read_The Winds of War and War and Remembrance. The Godfather_ by Mario Puzo. I read and enjoyed immensely _A Thread of Grace_ , _The Sparrow_ and _The Children of God_ by Mary Doria Russell. All really excellent books. Just read _Five Days that Shook the World_ Excellent. One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Okay, if I have to choose just one, I guess that it would have to be an early morning flight from Paris to Firenze. I wasn't booked for the window but the person that was didn't squawk so I got to look out the window and I did take some awesome through the plane window pictures. It was unbelievably beautiful as we came over to the Italian side you could see the rooftops of the houses in the villages in the mountains. Woh.
