About Me

I'm tall and somewhat hairy. I grew up in a suburb and used to play ice-hockey as a kid. Now a days I like to be outdoors as much as possible and recently decided to spend at least one night in outdoors every month, suddenly winter seems more exciting!

I've been told that I'm an incurable optimist, but if you're set on bringing me down, try when I'm on an empty stomach. I'm easy going and try to be flexible and accepting in new situations.

For the moment I live in Växjö, sharing an apartmemt with a friend. I'm working in a school as what we in Sweden calls 'Fritidspedagog' roughly translated to leisure-time pedagouge. My job isn't to teach kids how to read, what happened when or to do maths, my focus lies with their social development.

I really am a sucker for the outdoors, when travelling, the big cities doesn't interest me that much compared to a national park or a mountain trek.
That said doesn't mean I can't enjoy myself in a more populated area I really enjoy nice beer of all colors and shapes, especially in the company of others and perhaps while playing a board, video or card game.

If you send me a request please include the latest place where you slept in a tent or outdoors. If you've never done it, write that!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I see couchsurfing as an ingenious way to travel the world. At the same time as you'll solve your housing problems, you will meet new people, perhaps even new friends. I see, the cultural and social exchange as a big bonus when it comes to couchsurfing, but I don't see it as mandatory. Perhaps sometimes I only have time for lending someone who needs it my couch, but that's also OK because next time it might be me who is just looking for a place for the night.

Interests

I like outdoor activities, spending time with friends, discussions (about anything), video games, card games, board games, books, movies, pubs > clubs and show me a beautiful forest/park/tree and you'll see me smile like a little kid.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One thing I can recommend people to do is to take the over night train from Germany (Munich) to Croatia (Pula) passing through Slovakia, when you wake up during sunrise and see the sun bathing the mountains and all the small villages in golden sunlight. It was an incredibly beautiful scenery.

Another moment that comes to mind was when me and a friend went hiking in the northern part of Sweden (The high coast) and we slept on the beach under the stars. We woke up with the sun that morning and started the hike that brought us to the peak of a small mountain (Skuleberget) about 300 meters above the sea where we had slept. There I witnessed one of the most amazing views I've ever seen, looking out over the Gulf of Bothnia with a clear blue sky and all the tiny islands scattered between us and the horizon.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know how to fold a milk carton in to a cell-phone looking piece of trash that takes up very little space in your recycling bin, I know a lot of weird Swedish words and stuff about Sweden. I love to learn a lot, everything from useless facts to practical skills, any tips on how to make hitchhiking an awesome experience are very appreciated.

I also know some very basic origami.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share good company and stories from Sweden or perhaps some easy origami-lessons. I'm a tall person so if you need to hang a shelf I might be helpful.
