CURRENT MISSION To be where I'm happy, and happy where I am. Oh, and to find the perfect boots. ABOUT ME I'm definitely a bit unusual, open to try new things, but also quick to decide whether I like them or not. I trust my intuition more than anything, though I still often second-guess myself. I'm in a very transitional phase in my life right now, figuring out what I really want, and how to get it. I'm quite bright and clever, a quick learner of skills and methods. I love making things with my hands, don't mind working hard, and am generally very tidy and efficient. Some days I'm very outgoing, somedays I'm reserved, and it's rarely something to worry about. I get restless and sometimes have insomnia, I'm dyslexic, and I like to take long walks by myself at night. I'm not religious, but don't mind folk who are, so long as they don't try to take me to church with them. I have a strong sense of fairness and justice, broad sense of humour from slapstick to morbid, and I like hockey and fencing best. PHILOSOPHY Funny enough, I'm in the process of shaping a personal philosophy. At the moment, I tend to think on the bit in "Dune" about fear being the mindkiller, the little death, to let fear wash over and through you, instead of controlling you.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE The only couchsurfing experiences I've had before have been with friends, previous roommates and the like. I've been pretty lucky that they've been trustworthy people, though sometimes there've been unclear expectations which led to mutual unhappiness.
Music, Movies, and Books
A few favourites: Boondock Saints, Blues Brothers, Some Like it Hot; "American Gods" by Neil Gaimon, pretty much anything by Neil Gaimon and/or Terry Pratchet; the Baz Luhrmann movies (I like his style), the Peter Jackson movies, most Tim Burton movies; most books written by Arthur C. Clarke, William Gibson, and Isaac Asimov; most jazz, especially swing; 80s pop and rock; alot of rock and some pop, particularly Canadian artists (Tragically Hip, Arrogant Worms, Sarah McLaughlin, Teaparty); baroque and classical, orchestral and choral, funky, punk, klezmer, gypsy-style (Gogol Bordello), even some country (Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson).
One Amazing Thing I've Done
I've seen the Northern Lights fill the entire sky, shimmering and shifting in vivid colours for hours. I've seen meteor showers, and meteorites, and possibly a small comet, and many falling stars. I've seen pink lightning touch the ocean just in front of me. I've walked on live volcanos, and danced with fire. That's more than one, but I couldn't pick any less.
Teach, Learn, Share
Let's see...I can teach how to knit, embroider, sew, cook a few certain ways, and maybe a few other things. I'd like to learn more about woodworking, building and sailing tall ships, and acting, to list just a few.
