Overview
About Me
Born and raised in a small community in the San Juan Islands my love for traveling began with a foreign exchange in high school in Brasil. Ever since then I have had a desire to explore new places, meet new people, experience new cultures (especially through food, music, and art) and have my perspective of the world expanded and challenged in new ways.
In college I studied International Relations and focused on human rights and sustainable agriculture in Latin America. More recently, my passion for people and the natural world went from the macro to the micro, as I shifted to working in wilderness therapy in the southwestern United States and became a psychotherapist.
Having just finished my master’s in counseling I am taking some time off to travel in Portugal before starting my psychotherapy practice. I’m excited to practice my portuguese while I’m here and to meet new people and learn about the history and culture of this place!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am traveling alone and prefer to get to know a place through connecting with local people.
I am new to couchsurfing and have not had a chance to use it yet. I hope to be able to host others in the future as I love meeting new people and to be able to offer my home when someone needs a place to stay.
