About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Due to work I can't travel as much as I did back in my college days; so hosting people from other places is the next best thing.

ABOUT ME

I am a native of New York City, my parents are 1st generation immigrants from Bangladesh. I spent most of my adult life living in Alaska, however, now I live in CO.

PHILOSOPHY

Be a good person and do your utmost to help others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I use the service when I travel, and host others when I cannot. I also introduce people to awesome foods and drinks.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Did it in South Africa, Germany, Chile, Bolivia, Argentina, and Poland for a combined total of ~9.5 weeks. One of the best experiences of my life. I've also hosted 30+ people in AK.

Interests

If I had to list my top 4 interests they would be as follows : traveling, food, beer, and fitness . In the brief 30 years that I've spent on this planet I've managed to live/visit a wide variety of countries, ranging from Turkey to Bangladesh to South Korea. My 2nd and 3rd interests go hand-in-hand with my first. Whenever I go to any place new I always go out of my way to eat and drink the local foods and beverages. This is one mantra which has left me stooped over many a toilet but my resolution remains firm :p

Even when I am trapped at home due to the callings of the Army I'll pretend to be somewhere more interesting by playing a game with my friends called "Beer around the world". This game is simple, essentially all we do is get dinner at an exotic restaurant , say Thai for instance. Afterwards we'll get 3-4 different beers from Thailand/South East Asia and then commence to drink them while adopting the personas of 19th century English adventurers. It really is quite fun.

My last and final interest is what allows me to pursue the first three. Besides the Army mandating that I be fit, I also enjoy running races and biking. It is a dream of mine to complete a race on every continent. Also fit people are less prone to disease, and being healthy should be on everyone's agenda.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Warriors, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The world, Invictus, Matterhorn, Barabbas, Der Baader Meinhof Complex, The Road, Blood Meridian, This is England, Waltz with Bashir, Saving Private Ryan, Die Antwoord....I can literally go on forever.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The first time that I ever went snorkeling was in Egypt's Sinai peninsula in the Red Sea. The Red Sea is relatively untouched as far as seas go so the coral and aquatic life underneath it was absolutely magnificent. I have yet to witness a natural beauty to parallel that.

Another instance that left me awestruck was the city of Istanbul itself. I visited the city under very unfortunate circumstances, all my friends had left due to business and I had come unprepared for the cold spell which dawned on the city as soon as I arrived. The sniveling and loneliness ,however, were made up for by the grandeur of the Ottoman era palaces and mosques dotting the city.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am fluent in English, orally fluent in Bengali, and passable in Arabic. I also can teach you about marathon training, physical therapy, yoga, and basic anatomy.
