I'm Tarek. I've been living in Taiwan for the last year and a half. I speak decent Chinese and would like to have a chance to practice more when I get to China.

I'll go back to England in 2016 to attend grad school (so you can join me in London at that time!) I plan to study Anthropology 人類學 with a focus on China, so naturally i am interested in meeting some Chinese humans.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I will be taking two trips in China. A short trip this December followed by spending the summer in China next year. I want to take this opportunity to meet some great people and get a real understanding of the cities I visit.

I'll be in China from December 26th to January 4th. I haven't decided which cities to go to but they'll be somewhere near Shanghai.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music. Recently into American Traditional pop. The sort of pre-1950's stuff you would drink a whisky cocktail to. Other than that I like anything with a good rhythm. Something like Flamenco (if you know where to go and listen to that type of music and dance please take me).

I spend most of my time reading the the humanities, history, sociology and philosophy etc. In terms of non fiction three of my favourite authors are Nabokov, Lu Xun and most recently Jonathan Franzen.
