About Me

CURRENT MISSION

What goes up, must learn to fly

ABOUT ME

I'm a person with lot of curiousness: I'm interested about how and who are things and people around me. Sometimes I could just spend my day sitting on a park or a bus station and watching people passing by. I consider myself as an easy-going and flexible person; characteristics I appreciate in other people too.

Some things I like in my day to day life are lazy mornings, the holy trinity of coffee, breakfast and newspaper, conversations with my roommates, warmth of summer, darkness of winter, cykling in the city, reading in a park.

I just finished my engineering studies and moved back to Finland from Chile where I was working in environmental consulting for six months. However, it wasn't the first time I moved back to Funland from the Southern continent; I have also lived in Ecuador and Colombia, and eagerly looking for the next, still unrevealed, destination. Even though my world has lately mostly consisted of Finland and South America, it doesn't mean that I wouldn't be eager to discover the rest of the territories too.

Lately I've been dreaming about travelling to somewhere of the European country side. Or, we had a great idea with my roommate to hitchhike and couchsurf through Finland next summer.

If you accept my couch request, I assure that you'll get an "easy" surfer. For me it's not a problem to getting know a new place also by myself. Of course I value if you have time to join my company and spend some time wandering together, would be even better!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have been both host and surfer and I only have positive things to say about it. It is great to have a net of friends all around the world, it is great to understand how many different ways there are to live your life. Ultimately, what really makes me smile on my travels are the people, not the landscapes.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Wow! My first host ever in Paris, Philippe, was something spectacular! We stayed with my Finnish friend at his place a week and had such a fun time. We´ve seen each other now and then since 2009, and this originally CS acquitance has became a true friend.

Now I have also hosted some surfers in our flat and I definitely like that. Almost feels that I am having holidays by myself too, when having great time with surfers in my hometown.

Interests

I´m interested in people. I've heard I could be an interviewer because of my endless questions. But life is interesting, and I never heard same story twice.

I enjoy living in South America, and I could say that latin music and dances engage my attention. Turn some salsa on, and I can't stop smiling.

I like also photographing and would be more than happy to learn more about that "science".

Newspapers, science journals, novels - I'm an omnivorous reader and one of my favourite things in summertime is to go to a park or our summer cottage and read from dawn to dusk (and think how many hours it is here in the country of the midnight sun).

Music, Movies, and Books

Lately when I've been travelling I've read many different genres of literature, mostly based on that what the hostel's book exchange shell have offered me. I promise to have always at least one book at home ready for change!

To give some idea about the book covers you'll find at my place (just joking, they are just having short vacations from a library): Allende, Garcia Marquez, Steinbeck, Westö, Hugo, Tolstoi, Irwing, Itkonen, Vargas Llosa.
