CURRENT MISSION Raising an Old English Bulldog pup and travel through Europe with my GF and the doggo. ABOUT ME My name is Thomas. I live in Roermond, in the province of Limburg, the Netherlands. I'm down to earth (as one would expect from a Dutchman), calm and relaxed. Cultural identity is important to me and I like being a Limburger. The bourgondian way of life, the language and the common history with Belgium and Germany. And not to forget Carnaval (or Vastelaovendj as we say). I play football (soccer) and if I'm in the mood I'll play a bit of bass guitar as well. I love to travel, drink, have fun, dance like a fool and going to Silent Disco's!! Current beard status: Big and Bushy. PHILOSOPHY People should have the freedom to live their lives as they see fit. As long as it doesn't affect others in a negative way. Treat people the way you like to be treated.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING I've traveled for 10 months. From Canada to Panama. I was a counselor at a summercamp near Calgary, Canada. Met a bunch of cool people there and afterwards I surfed a bunch of couches. Not just through the website, but also by meeting friends on the road who where awesome enough to let me crash at their couches.. I've hosted a few people during the time back home. And obviously it was great fun! COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE Just a few in Toronto, Seattle, Quebec, New York and some unofficial ones along the road (In Calgary, Hood River and Victoria). But they have been great so far. People I've met have been amazing and dragged me into their lives while partying, sightseeing and hanging out!

One Amazing Thing I've Done
In Europe the trip to Norway and the roadtrip to Croatia with my friends are among things I like best. Seeing the sunrise on top of a Mayan temple in Tikal, Guatemala blew my mind. Also the Actun Tunichil Muknal (sacrificial) caves near San Ignacio, Belize were amazing!!

I like to teach the world there is more to the Netherlands than just Amsterdam! I want to learn more about a country and it's culture(s) than the stereotypical things it is known for.
