ABOUT ME

Hi I'm Thomas and I'd like to know what motivates you to connect with people from other cultures!

I have finished a Master studies in New Media Design in 2019 and I'm currently working for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines here in The Netherlands. I have been traveling the world quite a bit, been working in Central America for 3 years and I developed a genuine interest in experiencing culture with locals on the way.

WHAT I DID

In 2013, I founded my own voluntary project in which I invited people to share their story on my tandem bicycle while we raising funds for charity. I have been cycling over 4.000 km through Thailand and Laos and shared some amazing stories, get inspired on http://1bike2stories.com

From 2014 to 2017, I worked and lived at Curacao, one of the Dutch Caribbean Islands in Central America.

MY INTERESTS

"I travel for food and adventure"

I make this happen by traveling the alternative way. The best example is probably my bikepacking adventures in which I explore destinations by bike. I recently rode the Ring of Kerry in Ireland, all around the island of Bali and the trans-Alp in Slovenia. I learned that by changing the mode of transport, you will have a total different travel experience.

I like to explore areas by bicycle or simply sit down in a busy street and observe the life passing by. I'm quite talkative, I like my independence and (maybe) therefore dislike queues of any kind. I translate my critical view on the world mostly in good parody. My work is strongly related to travel and that's why I love to work :-) Ow, and as many men on earth: I love to drink a beer, preferably in the sun!

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

Since my world travels in 2007 I'm addicted to travelling. I had the luck to experience some home stays during my that travels, especially in Thailand and Fiji. Then I found out Couchsurfing and had the best kick-off a traveller could wish in Dubai. There were many good experiences to follow both being the surfer as well as being the host.
