About Me

* To respect my flatmates who find it hard to accept CS concepts and don’t feel comfortable welcoming a stranger male into our apartment, I can’t accept any request from male CSers :(

Hi!
I joke that I travel to find my next “home base”, and somehow I find traveling to places where nobody knows me helps to understand myself better. And seeing different places & different ways of living life reminds me what I’ll like / dislike about places I live in, and slowly get a clearer idea of what type of life I want to build for myself —— that’s pretty much why I love traveling.

I’m the type of person that would visit a place because a book/movie mentions/happens there, or an author to my liking has lived there, these motivated me to visit 50% of the places I’ve been to.

In terms of lifestyle,
I don’t like clubs or crazy parties, but I like to grab a drink with friends to talk.
I want to see the planet that I’m living on a bit more and I won’t say no to any adventures unless it’s 100% gonna kill me.

My work is in research and I mainly work on how to make AI more trustworthy and a better tool for us from a technical perspective. I would actually love some nerdy conversations if you’d like to share some of your thoughts on technologies.

I like having deep conversations with people, I rarely find anything offensive and I respect all opinions. Please also introduce me your favorite food!

I also enjoy “chill” hikes and nature in general.
* Having been the victim of many “chill” hikes that almost killed me, I’m very careful with saying I enjoy hiking now.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet people and learn about the world a bit more.

Despite being the same species we humans live in so many different ways, and I’m just curious to see how other people are living their lives. It’s kinda like reading a “human-book” even though I believe we’re all eventually more similar than different:))

I want to help travelers and give back all the kindness I’ve received from CS community. Also, I know how expensive my city can get and I do not want travelers to miss seeing it due to budget constraint.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like almost all Christopher Nolan movies.

My favorite movie in 2024 is “Robot Dreams”, yet to decide for 2025.

I read everything that has good storylines or brilliant dialogues.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Tired of Singapore and its strict Covid regulations, I spontaneously moved to this island called Koh Tao in Thailand and spent an amazing 6 months there diving and living by the sea. Until now I still always find myself boarding that bumpy ferry omw there to dive and visit my friends, chances are one day I’ll become a real islander and call Koh Tao my home, let’s see!

I once spent 6 months traveling from Germany to Georgia overland, the plan was all the way back to Singapore, but things happened.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My culture is a LOT about food. Sometimes or most of the time I believe that I live just to eat more and better food.
I can cook great northern Chinese cuisine with simple ingredients. If you host me, I would love to show you some Chinese food.
Only if you can understand this:
正好路过且时间方便的话来家里吃火锅吧!带着故事和人来就好,食材管够

I can help out with chores of course.

There’s definitely more I could share but I can’t think of any as of now :(
