关于我
3.11.2024 - I am coming back here after (I think) 6 years. I am currently in the process of moving out, and I think I finally have some space in my life to give back what I was given. I just entered here on sunday 3rd and kept reading all those opinions that were gathered since 2012 when I left to study abroad and had mostly not returned till covid. This being said - it is almost midnight and I had no time to properly update my profile. Anyway feel free to ask, I ll try to help.
NEW DESCRIPTION
WHAT TO DO IN GDANSK (AND 3CITY)
Gdańsk is very historical place. It is a city where IInd World War started and home to that famous Solidarity movement that started the fall of communism. Currently it is known to be one of the most beautiful cities in Poland with XVI Century like Old Town, good night life and its historical aspects. Within an hour from the city you will find Malbork Castle (biggest in Europe, never conquered castle made entirely from brick) and Kaszuby Region that can be good for exploring the nature.
Arriving to the city:
- Via airplane: take train / or bus (but takes longer) to Gdańsk Główny
- Via train: get of at Gdańsk Główny
Day 1. Gdańsk
1. WESTERPLATTE - the place where 2nd World War started. You can see huge monument there and find some bunkers left unattended. During holiday season there is bus 600 and 606 going there from Brama Wyzynna (approx 30' to get there).
2. Góra Gradowa (with big Cross on top of it)
3. Walk around the Old Town (Dluga Street and all the paralel streets).
- St. Mary’s Basilica (Bazylika Mariacka) which is the largest brick church in the world, with a viewing tower offering panoramic city views.
- Neptun's Fountain
- Granary Island & Ołowianka Island
- Motlava Rivbank and The Crane (Żuraw) - a medieval port crane and symbol of the city. It was inspiration for Novigrad city in Wiedzmin.
- and more...
4. Stocznia (shipyard)
- Walk alongside Motlava River
- Stocznia is industrial area that you can walk around and explore to certain extent
- Climb M3 Crane to have very nice view over the shipyard
- Go to "Gate Number 2" and Monument to the Fallen Shipyard Workers of 1970.
5. For the evening / night go to 100cznia or Elektryków.
==EXTRA, 24H won't be enough==
Museums:
- European Solidarity Centre: a modern museum about the Solidarity movement and the fall of communism.
- Museum of the Second World War
- Museum of Amber - Gdańsk is often called the world capital of amber due to its long-standing tradition of amber trade, craftsmanship, and art. For centuries, it has been one of the most important centers for processing and exporting amber. Gdańsk was a key port on the ancient Amber Road.
Day 2. Gdynia & Sopot
Gdynia:
- Go to Gdynia and explore the city (it's modern city built after 1918 when Poland got independence. At that time Gdansk was a Free Country, and Poland did not have its own port)
- streets: 10 lutego, Świętojańska, John Paul the 2nd alley (you can see old ships there)
- city beach in Gdynia
- from the city beach continue by the sea to Polanka Redlowska and come back to take a train to Sopot
- before Sopot you may get off in Gdynia Orłowo. There is small pier and nice Cliff by the sea. Highly Recommended!
Museums:
- Naval Museum (next to city beach in Gdynia), you can see sumbarine.
Sopot:
- Sopot was not destroyed by 2nd WW, hence wherever you go it is beautiful. You can explore the city as well as the forest. Bohaterów Monte Cassino with Crooked House will lead you to the wooden pier (paid during the season)
Day 3.
- Take a regional train and go to Malbork Castle (approx. 1h and 3-4h of sightseeing)
OR
- Visit Museums
FOOD
In Poland in general you should try:
- Zapiekanka (most famous in Kazimierz, Krakow)
- Visit any "Bar Mleczny" and take whatever (soups: zupa pomidorowa, żurek, barszcz, rosół; main course: pierogi (ruskie or z kapustą i grzybami), kotlet mielony, schabowy, łazanki, gołąbki, biała kiełbasa, placek po cygańsku, ryba po grecku)

ABOUT ME
Hi I'm Tony (or if u prefer true Polish name - Przemek). I come from Poland, but now I do not have any fixed place because from World Cup in Brasil I am constantly travelling.
What about me? From the day I become Erasmus (exchange student) a lot of things changed in my life. For sure I am more open minded person then I was in the past, I become more brave and started travelling in the cheapest possible way! Right now I am kinda proud of my life and believe that this "holidays" will continue as long as possible!
PHILOSOPHy
Dont want to be taken as a person with stricte rules, but if I should say something, or put any quotation it would be:
"It always seems impossible untill it is done"

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am using CS during every travell, as much as possible ;)! It gave so many of good memories!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Hmmm... All over the Europ, some in South America and already quite a lot in North America too. People are amazing and this webpage is awesome, cause let so easily meet strangers and helps them become best friends!
兴趣
With time everything changes.
I always had some philosophical thoughts about (my) life, and everything what is around me. Because of this I was frequently told that i find happiness inside small things which a lot of people dont notice.
From more 'normal' things I am interested in football, I was training table tennis also. From last years the most of all is of course travelling. Knowing the world without spending cents is awesome (althought after that much time its tiredful) even if u can't afford all the things u d like to.

教,学,和分享
Last days one of my friends had told me that I will have what to say to my children. Basically from the time I started travelling I have some stories to tell, so with pleasure I can share it with you ;). Once in Portugal I proved for a guy that you may set vodka on fire - simple, but how much of fun it gave...
I also speak fluent Polish, English, Spanish and/or Portugues (I understand both but the one I speak depends from the country I am) if you need a teacher.
I possibly could already give some dj lessons.

I could say that if you are nice to me I'm nice to you. To not look like self confident I may give better the example from my travel to explain.
There was once a situation when I stopped somewhere in Colombia in small town close to the jungle. I travel cheap so obviously when it got dark I went to ask police if they can host me or let sleep in the tent in some safe place. In the beginning they were rather like "no, no we cannot help you" and after 10 minutes I was already inside eating with them, joking, using internet. By the way I even took a shower :D.
By this story Im trying to say that wherever I am there is good energy around. More info about my stories you gonna find on my blog, facebook.com/autostopemnwd.
